What
does a great Technical Writer do?
You'll craft documentation that contributes to the success of our products and business. Do you enjoy working collaboratively with a team of talented technical writers, developers, quality engineers, product managers, and usability experts to make products easier to use? You’ll combine your writing skills with your real passion for technology. Your responsibilities will largely revolve around developing release notes, installation guides, help files, quick reference guides, and mechanisms for their delivery. You will need to explain complex information in a clear and concise manner and work with the product teams to ensure accuracy of product descriptions. We are seeking someone comfortable researching innovative technologies, learning how to use them and writing about it!
Documentation is a dynamic department—the contributions of all members are key to producing quality documentation and maintaining our high standards. The ideal candidate will have excellent writing and verbal communication skills, experience writing business documentation, and demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic development environment. Working closely with Learning Solutions, Knowledge Management and Line of Business Leaders. Your role will be integral to preserving the quality and integrity of the Knowledge Community for current and future users.
Key Responsibilities:
• Accountable under limited direction to produce exceptional documentation that enables clients to understand Fiserv’s products and efficiently complete their jobs with minimal service calls. Documentation includes:
• User Guides, Quick References, Page Help (HTML) files, Technical Specifications, Bulletins, FYI notifications
• Analyze and research available technical documentation, write descriptive copy, and verify documentation content with related departments
• Ability to analyze and translate technical and functional designs into user-friendly client material
• Review requirements and functional design documents to resolve product enhancements
• Master the department selected style guides and department procedures
Basic qualifications for consideration:
3 or more years’ experience in the Technical Writing
Advanced skills with screen capture programs and have a deep understanding of screen editing and importing into other programs—Flare, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
Expert level technical writing and editing skills with a strong attention to detail
Preferred qualifications for consideration:
• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing/Communications, English, Computer Science
• Knowledge of Madcap Flare or similar software packages
• Knowledge of help authoring tools
• Knowledge of online help concepts
• Understanding of indexing concepts
• Experience working in an Agile environment
• Knowledge of EFT industry
Travel Required:
• Approx, 5%.
