We’re hiring a Controller to join our outsourcing practice in our Greenwood Village, CO location to provide customized short and long-term finance and accounting solutions. The BizOps Controller performs Controller functions as part of the client’s accounting services team. S/he acts as and manages the designated function(s) for the client. S/he is also accountable for identifying and implementing best practices related to the service(s) provided to add value to the client. S/he develops full knowledge of GAAP (FASB/SFAS) and deep understanding of financial and operational aspects of his/her specific industry.
Work Activities and Accountabilities:
The below functions reflect the general details of the essential work activities and accountabilities of this position and are not all inclusive. Other activities may be assigned.
• Financials: Develops internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting. Coordinates and directs the financial planning, budgeting, procurements, or investment activities for all or part of an organization. Prepare financial information. Prepare, or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, budgets, or reports required by regulatory agencies. Evaluate needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses and make appropriate recommendations. Meets financial objectives by forecasting requirements, and prepares budgets. Monitor ratio and key performance indicators (KPI).
• Leadership: Monitors and evaluates the performance of accounting and other financial staff, recommending and implementing actions. Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions. Supervise and develop staff on a small number of clients. Communicate on a regular basis with boards, bankers, investors, constituents, etc.; including preparing and hosting board presentations
Organizational Interfaces:
The BizOps Controller reports directly to the CFO or BizOps Principal in charge of the client. S/he regularly interacts with Managing Principals, industry Principals, service Principals, and other functional groups within CLA and at the client site. S/he supervises accounting services staff which may include CLA accounting services staff, client accounting services staff, or both.
Requirements:
• Eight years relative work experience as a BizOps Senior, Assistant Controller, Controller, or equivalent.
• BA/BS degree in accounting or related field required.
• Proficiency and aptitude for applicable software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks, etc.).
• Ability to travel to local client sites as needed (<10%).
• People management experience with the ability to guide, motivate others and direct a team to achieve desired end results.
• Experience in multiple industries a plus; government and/or not-for-profit industry highly preferred.
• Understanding and working knowledge of GASB strongly preferred.
• Public accounting experience preferred.
• Certification/Licenses: None required. CPA preferred
