The Senior Scheduler is primarily responsible for driving business process improvement through the analysis of client engagements and scheduling of Tax personnel.
Senior Schedulers are responsible for scheduling and coordinating the assignments of client service staff to engagements to ensure that resources are effectively deployed and staff workloads are balanced. As a member of the Resource Management Team, they will be a key contributor to the practice’s financial performance by effectively aligning our people resources to our clients’ needs with a continual focus on talent development, growth and satisfaction.
This role reports to the Regional Resource Management Director and will collaborate with the Tax LOB, Team Leaders and the Human Resources Director.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Ensure the employee population for the Washington Metro Offices tax practice is effectively utilized to support the achievement of financial plans for the business.
• Collaborate with Tax team leaders and/or client engagement teams to understand their business needs and schedule the workload of Tax professionals within the Washington Metro Offices Tax practice in our staffing tool.
• Provide various forms of analysis including financial, profitability, and exception reporting.
• Generate reports to provide views into the forecasted utilization and monitor productivity, conflicts, leverage, availability, non-charge hours, etc.
• Participate in scheduling meetings and follow-up on unresolved issues that require rescheduling of projects.
• Update, monitor and audit schedules daily for conflicts/anomalies and identify appropriate resolutions.
• Plan and develop strategies for engagement management while incorporating functional requirements and priorities (financial, capacity, etc.).
• Work directly with career advisors and staff regarding productivity, training, staffing issues and other concerns. Collaborate with LOB Leader and HR Leaders to create and follow through on effective resolutions.
• Coordinate resource sharing both regionally and nationally across Resource Managers/Directors, functional teams and other business units.
• Utilize, share and develop best practices.
• Other responsibilities and projects as directed by Resource Management Director and Tax leaders
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or in related field.
• 3+ years of experience in a professional services firm as a Resource Management professional or client server in the Tax arena.
• Ability to confidently connect at all levels in the organization using diplomatic communication, influence and negotiation skills.
• Familiarity with Schedule Planning Systems.
• Intermediate to Expert Excel skills.
• Ability to multi-task and attention to detail.
• Strong relationship building, coaching and employee development skills.
• Understands and thrives in a fast pace environment and able to prioritize accordingly.
• Able to travel periodically (5%) to other Washington Metro Offices.
