Overview
The Community Marketing Specialist is responsible for identifying, developing and managing partnerships, events, sponsorships and voluntarism opportunities with non-profit organizations and municipal programs focused on Patelco’s community pillars; financial education, children’s health, eliminating hunger and affordable housing. The ideal candidate for this role has a community and philanthropic focus, with a strong desire to nurture and grow Patelco’s support for the communities we serve. This is a key role in helping further Patelco’s brand name, reputation and fulfilling our brand promise through local partnerships, events and activities within our key stakeholder communities, including our Team Members, our existing Members and potential members.
The Community Marketing Specialist must be a self-starter with demonstrated experience developing, planning, and executing integrated community support campaigns and events externally and internally, and developing communications to support identified deliverables. This role requires both creative and critical thinking skills and relationship management. The ideal candidate excels at planning, is an execution master effective at collaborating cross-functionally with internal and external partners, and managing external vendors to achieve desired time-based outcomes.
Responsibilities
• Develop and manage community event marketing plans and execute accordingly
• Leverage enterprise and regional brand/product campaigns to develop unique community campaigns that drive community engagement at local events and activities
• Creatively extend Patelco’s brand strategy and messaging to external and internal community related communications
• Use a combination of paid, owned, and earned media to advance awareness of the Patelco community support pillars
• Develop and partner with social community and public relations partners to implement conversations within Patelco’s social communities for the purpose of advancing community engagement activities
• Collaborate with local branch and regional teams and Director of CU Affairs to extend reach of community engagement activities such as sponsorships, charitable contributions, and volunteerism activities in their local communities and the credit union league level
• Promote and evangelize community engagement activities throughout the credit union
• Join forces with other marketing and community engagement peers to plan and execute community events and activities
• Identify community support opportunities in alignment with our pillars
• Coordinate production of marketing materials with creative designers, print vendors, and third party suppliers
• Engage with internal business partner leaders and their teams to ensure an understanding of their strategies, goals, and initiatives to align community support activities
• Help support Patelco’s overall business objectives; increasing member satisfaction, member participation and member growth through relevant and impactful community opportunities
Qualifications
• College degree in marketing/communications or equivalent experience in related field
• 7+ years of relevant marketing experience (strong preference for candidates with event planning, community support management experience)
• Experience developing and executing fully integrated, multi-touch marketing and communications campaigns
• Strong understanding of all primary marketing channels, including advertising, direct mail, email, digital, and social
• Experience with project management software and extremely familiar with tools of Microsoft office for budget management, presentation development and project reporting
• Results-oriented with ability to assess and help develop methodology for return on marketing investment for community support activities.
• Strategy development and strategic execution driven, action-oriented, results-focused
• Experience developing and managing budget, event plans, communication/marketing plans
• Effective communicator, both written and verbal across all levels of the organization at HQ and our branches
• Ability to operate in the gray with shifting and conflicting priorities
• Proactive problem-solving skills; ability to anticipate obstacles and quickly generate alternate solutions/ideas
• Creative self-starter with can-do positive attitude and a roll-up-your-sleeves approach
• Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
• Personable, positive can do attitude ready to help shape the marketing culture
• Flexible with demands and changes in extremely fast-moving business environment
• Proven ability to lead, build relationships, and work effectively in a highly cross-functional organization
• Successful implementation of marketing programs, coordinate with departments and serve as Marketing liaison
• Must be detail oriented, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and ensuring accuracy of all materials.
Expected to handle large volume of projects. Ability to juggle multiple priorities, work well under pressure and deliver according to pre-determined schedule
• Ability to consistently prioritize workflow with heavy emphasis based on business impact.

• Travel required up to 25% of time
