Morgan Stanley Services Group Inc. seeks a Vice President, New Product Approval (NPA) in New York, New York
Provide enterprise-wide risk and control coverage for governance of new products and services for Morgan Stanley’s businesses, with a focus on Americas Institutional Securities and US Banks. Provide guidance on the preparation of risk assessment and product description for senior management reports. Review, analyze, and coordinate new product proposals as per the Firm framework. Ensure essential oversight and reinforcement of compliance with other Firm governance frameworks and minimize new product risks. Perform quality assurance reviews of new product approval processes and ensure due diligence performed is effective. Participate in meetings with program stakeholders to review Firm policy compliance standards. Serve as liaison with risk managers and infrastructure areas. Collaborate and liaise in regulatory and audit reviews and own related remediation. Facilitate discussion and implementation of key enhancements to the Firm’s new product framework. Facilitate discussion to connect the Firm’s New Product and Trader Mandate Program, which is a global control within the Firm that defines the parameters by which the sales and trading division abides when executing trades and orders.
Qualifications
Requirements:
Requires a Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field of study and four (4) years of experience in the position offered or four (4) years of experience as an Operational Risk Officer, New Product Approval Officer, Trader, or related occupation in sales and trading business risk, control, or support.
Will accept a Bachelor’s degree and six (6) years of experience in lieu of a Master’s degree and four (4) years of experience.
Requires four (4) years of experience with: enterprise-wide new product governance and risk management and its applicability for institutional securities sales and trading products including equities, fixed income, derivatives, and structured notes; quality assurance review and remediation recommendation to due diligence documentation provided by functional areas including Operations; providing risk or governance guidance on new products to stakeholders including functional areas personnel on a daily basis; and liaising with senior management and/or functional areas to enhance Firm processes and implement the changes.
Requires three (3) years of experience with: enterprise-wide new product governance and risk management and its applicability for institutional securities sales and trading products including commodities; trader mandates and its linkage/applicability to new products across Sales and Trading Products in regions including EMEA, Asia Pacific, and Japan; and presenting potential new product risks and issues to senior management.
Requires two (2) years of experience with: quality assurance review and remediation recommendation to due diligence documentation provided by functional areas including Compliance, Finance, and all 2nd Line of Defense risk functions; and providing risk or governance guidance on new products to stakeholders including sales and trading personnel on a daily basis.
Will accept any amount of experience with: enterprise-wide new product governance and risk management and its applicability for institutional securities sales and trading products funding and sustainable investments; global capital markets and investment banking products including leverage and acquisition finance, equity, and fixed income capital markets; trader mandates and its linkage/applicability to new products across Sales and Trading Products in regions including Americas; quality assurance review and remediation recommendation to due diligence documentation provided by functional areas including Treasury; and providing risk or governance guidance on new products to stakeholders including private bankers on a daily basis.
