Summary
This role leads a team of Thrivent Member Network (TMN) Specialists in their work to develop effective Thrivent Member Networks, Thrivent’s Lodge system. They are especially focused on the engagement and development of building high performing TMN Boards, implementing tactics identified by the Boards to grow Thrivent Membership and understand the strategies and tactics that are most effective in accomplishing that goal.
ENGAGEMENT AND STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT (20%)
• Build and maintain a high-performing team; select, develop, coach, reward and recognize team members.
• Build a TMN culture of high-performance by modeling effective leadership and building strong relationships with, those engaging in community and interacting with the lodge, the TMN Specialists, and support positions.
• Lead and actively engage Specialists, and TMN support positions in key activities including strategic planning, member engagement and growth and resource oversight, always encouraging fact based, critical thinking skills. The plan should be tailored to member/prospective member needs on their Wise with Money Journey to lead secure, content and confident lives supporting engagement, membership, business, advocacy, and social impact within the regions.
• Provide ongoing, timely communication to the TMN Specialists team about important business developments, program updates, financial updates and other related changes/information affecting the development of and implementation of the plan. “Connects the dots” on how these changes may affect the TMN efforts – serving as a conduit of information for the Specialists so they can effectively fulfill their roles and support the board.
REGIONAL TMN PLAN IMPLEMENTATION: (50%)
• Lead and support the TMN Specialist to develop and implement tactics to support the strategic plan for the Network.
• Oversee the TMN Specialists in developing budgets for review and approval by the Board; ensures expenditures follow program requirements;
• Monitors TMN programs and initiatives for quality and course correction when necessary to achieve the right results; identify and drive toward key result metrics.
• Receive Voice of the Member and Prospective member to develop effective engagement and activation programs and continually improve existing approaches.
OVERSIGHT, MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT (30%)
• Analyze cross TMN results, addresses discrepancies, trends and other identified success metrics.
• Develop and implement professional and skill development roadmap
• Research and support technologies that further the efficiency of the Specialist in engaging and tracking membership.
• Develop local member community-based programs (i.e. in a box, National Day of…) to enhance grass roots activation approach.
• Research and pursue alternative engagement approaches that can be implemented nationally with regional flair
• Work with corporate stakeholders to develop internal reporting mechanisms and support for lodge activity
• Develop and support opportunities or channels for sharing best of emerging practices.
Required Job Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred. Successful candidate will need to let any financial/securities licenses they hold expire
• Prefer a minimum of five years of progressive experience within a non-profit, financial services, membership owned organization, fraternal benefit society or comparable organization.
• Knowledge of organizational planning, community-based activity, people management, constituent engagement and activation, public relations and marketing, metrics based and societal impact measures.
• Experience in leading a grass roots activation program a plus.
• Excellent oral and written communications, strong interpersonal and networking ability; strategic thinking and business acumen; dedication to diversity and inclusion, building teams; ability to work effectively with volunteers; an experienced shared/collaborative leadership style
• Ability to plan, monitor and evaluate budgets and success measures; ability to plan, organize and implement activities appropriate to the advancement of organizational goals; experience supervising and managing people.
• Skilled in analyzing information to derive meaning and drive strategy and tactics
• Public Speaking, Volunteer or Community Leadership, demonstrated ability to build, activate and leverage networks.
Travel: 30 percent of time travel (majority on a regional basis)
