Description
Assurant has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant!
This position reports to the Accounting Supervisor within Enterprise Accounting Services and works closely with offshore team, IT, Segment and Corporate management. This individual must be detail-oriented, able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and perform with a high degree of accuracy.
Position will cultivate a continuous improvement culture, promote ongoing learning and exhibit a high level of engagement in a fast- paced F&A shared services environment.
The ideal candidate must be able to contribute to the Shared Service strategy and execution by applying knowledge and experience, and helping further develop the staff.
The incumbent will serve as a GL subject matter expert and ensure that all GL maintenance requests are processed in a timely manner, support the General Ledger Daily Balancing function and oversee the ledger lock process during monthly and quarterly close.
Responsibilities
• Perform monthly and/or quarterly source system balancing
• Manage the high volume EAS General Ledger mailbox and take appropriate action
• Research and resolve any general ledger/interface issues and escalate as necessary
• Coordinate the processing of all GL Structure Maintenance Requests
• Serve as owner of GLIM (General Ledger Import Manager)
• Oversee ledger lock process and running of unposted cube
• Responsible for performing and documenting accounting processes and procedures
• Ongoing maintenance of applicable GL databases
• Preparation of semi-annual GLIM Periodic Access Review
• Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• 5+ yrs. experience in General Ledger Accounting
• Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access)
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (PivotTable, VLOOKUP)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Effective time management skills

• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
• Ability to clearly and objectively communicate the work that is done and the resulting findings
• Possess strong reconciliation skills
• Provide work product with a high degree of accuracy
• Ability to understand assigned tasks, why they are performed, and how they fit into the bigger picture. Ability to appropriately prioritize tasks and plan work load so that all assigned deadlines are met
