Now at a critical juncture, the company’s Workplace Marketing team is looking for an experienced B2B marketer to spearhead its efforts to engage retirement plan providers and consultants. Both audiences are mission-critical to Financial Engines’ future as the company strives to fulfill its mission of delivering financial help to millions of everyday Americans.
Our ideal candidate for the Provider & Consultant Marketing Principal is a seasoned B2B marketer with expert-level knowledge of the defined contribution industries. This role will collaborate extensively with the Institutional Services leaders who engage with the retirement plan providers with whom Financial Engines partners and retirement plan and investment consultants and advisors who are increasingly critical influencers of Financial Engines plan sponsor clients.
The incumbent will report directly to the Director of Plan Sponsor Marketing.
Responsibilities:
• Marketing strategy: Develop long-term plans for engaging retirement plan providers and consultants/advisors that advance the firm’s business goals
• Content creation: Develop provider- and consultant/advisor-facing content that positions Financial Engines services in a manner that differentiates vs. the competition; this role will both generate its own “hands-on” content and work with internal and external creative resources
• Provider development: As appropriate, work directly with marketing counterparts and other key contacts at Financial Engines’ recordkeeping provider partners on joint marketing efforts, such as direct marketing campaigns, sales enablement programs, and thought leadership
Skills/experience:
• 8-10 years of marketing experience, preferably on the B2B side
• Deep knowledge of the retirement and defined contribution industries; past experience working with a retirement plan recordkeeper or consultant/advisor is a significant plus
• Ability to balance strategy with execution, including a willingness to “roll up sleeves” and generate content (e.g., PowerPoint slides, one-pagers, etc.)
• Excellent communication, collaboration and influencing skills, given external interface with retirement plan providers.
