We are seeking candidates to fill three Analyst positions to support the Program Policy & Controls teams in developing and maintaining a strong control environment in our relationships with our third party acquisition partners globally and ensure partner adherence and compliance with program rules and requirements. The positions will work with colleagues across the Global Merchant Services organization and across American Express in researching, publishing and communicating program policies and playbooks to various internal and external constituents; developing and executing internal program testing and controls; supporting issue management and audits; and building/maintaining the reporting and tracking of results for all compliance & control activities.
The successful candidates will be a highly motivated and results-oriented individual with a growth mindset and strong relationship building skills to work across functions and organizations to support the formulation of an effective policy, compliance and control program.
The primary responsibilities for the Policy support analyst include:
• Oversee the day-to-day Governance process for the semi-annual refresh and publication of program operating regulations, playbooks and related documents;
• Serve as first point of contact for input and inquiries related to program rules and requirements and ensure appropriate stakeholders are engaged;
• Manage calendars and schedule working sessions and governance review sessions in accordance with the timeline;
• Perform analytics and research in support of development of new program rules and requirements related to emerging and evolving business models;
• Develop and execute plans for communicating program rules and other important information to various internal and external constituents globally.
• Contribute to the ongoing review of policies, regulations and industry best practices to enhance the program.
The primary responsibilities for the Controls support analyst include:
• Support the development, monitoring and testing of controls to ensure adherence to the program rules, technical specifications and other due diligence requirements;
• Ensure timely completion of quarterly/semi-annual/annual control testing in accordance with prescribed timelines to mitigate operational risk.
• Oversee the development and execution of robust program self-testing to ensure partner compliance with program rules, including analysis, documentation and reporting of results to the appropriate teams for remediation.
• Support the identification, reporting and management through completion of any Operational risk events or loss events.
• Create and maintain monthly Compliance & Control monitoring dashboard distributed to internal stakeholders for business, regulatory, and management purposes.
• Influence/improve the contents of the program self-testing by identifying and implementing new and effective controls requirements.
• Carry out additional duties and assist with ad hoc projects as required.
Qualifications
• Minimum 2 years of experience in the payments industry and knowledge of the merchant acquiring business and processes preferred.
• Previous experience in the review and/or development of policies and procedures manuals.
• Previous experience in supporting Compliance and/or Operational Risk testing, monitoring and audit-related activities across multiple regions.
• Proven project management skills with expertise in successfully leading, prioritizing and implementing complex initiatives.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral;
• Tenacious and resilient self-starter, able to work independently, comfortable with ambiguity and committed to meeting deadlines.
• Flexible and adaptable to change.
Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
