Job Description
The Small Business Loan Specialist I work with the Small Business Lender and Stores to obtain and verify all information necessary to satisfy conditions of lending, prepare loan documents and book loans. They act as a single point of contact during the time frame between approval and booking. This involves communication and correspondence with Small Business Loan Officers, Store personnel, and other support departments. Faster, smoother loan closings provide a positive experience for the Small Business Loan Customer. Effective Due Diligence Procedures & Controls ensure that loans are closed in accordance with the loan approval and Bank policy.
Job Requirements
Follows established Customer notification procedures, including approval, decline and counter-offer.
Identifies all information needed to close the loan and stays in touch with BBO or BDSM to find out the status of missing information.
Helps the Lender set realistic closing date expectations with the Customer and revises the expectation when information is still missing or due diligence results are not as expected.
Reviews Loan Approval Conditions and follows up with Business Banking Officer or Business Development Store Manager to ensure they are satisfied prior to loan closing
Communicates due diligence results to Business Banking Officer or Business Development Store Manager and discusses options when the results do not support loan request / approval, or next steps when conditions are satisfactorily satisfied.
Routes loan request back to Underwriting to re-investigate, re-underwrite or re-approve loan request, and communicates with Lender if expected closing date cannot be met.
Assists Team Members, when volume exceeds capacity, in order to meet all established service level agreements.
Consults with team leader, if necessary, when results do not support loan request / approval to determine options.
Performs due diligence necessary to perfect collateral such as UCC filings, vehicle title applications, etc. per state and federal guidelines.
Follows established procedures to result in booking of credit facilities that do not require loan documentation or loan closings.
Has authority to resolve a modest amount of due diligence issues according to established procedures or works with underwriting team for additional due diligence, if necessary.
Determines that all necessary information has been gathered to complete loan documents and remains involved with the loan request until loan documents are executed.
Reviews approved loan requests to determine due diligence requirements based on established policy and procedures.
Orders and Reviews due diligence, including property valuations, property and UCC searches and determines if the results support the loan request and approval.
Must be eligible for employment under regulatory standards applicable to the position.
