Job Description Summary
This key role is primarily responsible for implementing the Genworth’s data strategy, which includes identifying current and future data to gather, store, retrieve, analyze, and report in support of the organization’s programs and operations, including governance of over the business data. This includes data for decision support, business intelligence, governance, customer relationship management, data warehousing, meta-data repositories, operational data stores, and enterprise storage management. The Director of Data Management & Analytics will work with the Chief Information Security Officer on matters related to data privacy and security. This role will assess and develop mission critical programs, act as a change agent, to lead the transformation of the organization through execution of the evolving data strategy.
Responsibilities
• Leads the development of an enterprise-wide data strategy for review and approval by the Senior Leadership Team.
• Collaborates with Senior Leaders to implement the approved data strategy; establishes the strategic direction for building the organization’s data management program and optimizing how the Genworth uses data both internally and externally.
• Leads teams of IT professionals in the areas of data warehousing, architecture/structure, governance and analytics to execute business wide data strategies
• Identifies and monitors integrated decision-support applications and databases to provide associates with accurate and efficient access to business data.
• Establishes cross-functional data governance and supports adoption and adherence to data quality and process governance in the relevant collaborating functional areas.
• Develops recommendations for integration of incongruent systems for data sharing and consistency.
• Leads in the collection and review of data from varied legacy systems; makes recommendations for modernizing legacy systems and assuring new solutions provide timely, useful and clean data.
• Enables the adoption of new data analytics and analysis techniques. Reviews existing systems and operating procedures to identify trends, cost reductions and identify ways to increase operational efficiency.
• Encourages and supports enterprise data sharing and collaboration.
• Promotes the enterprise-wide use of data to drive organizational transformation activities.
• Establishes controls over data and information compliance with the Genworth policy and external legal/regulatory requirements.
• Works closely with the Infrastructure teams, both internal and third party, in organizing and creating an environment that makes data and information accessible with appropriate channels of access controls; acts as an advisor in the use of data to improve performance and enterprise-wide strategy formulation.

Education/Technical Expertise
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Management Information Systems, Statistics, Analytics or equivalent; MBA/Master’s degree preferred.
• Proven people leader with at least 5 years of management responsibilities able to lead a team across multiple functional and physical locations.
• At least 15 years of progressively responsible relevant experience in data management, including creating partnerships, implementing data governance, and understanding the underlying technologies needed to enable data innovation across a large organization.
• Demonstrated experience with developing data strategy, policies, and procedures, as well as successfully executing programs that meet or exceed expectations in a dynamic environment; experience creating tools and capabilities to assist with data discovery & collaboration, ensure data quality, and to load, clean, enrich, manage, and share data and metadata from a variety of sources.
• A self-starter able to administer a number of open, ongoing projects at any one time, where some projects are routinely unstructured, requiring autonomy and independent judgment.
• In-depth experience successfully harmonizing diverse and competing interests.
• Ability to clearly articulate a position with sound logic, supporting empirical evidence, and impartiality.
• Effectively represent the organization to a variety of both internal and external constituencies at senior levels.
• Superior verbal and written communication skills.
