Job Description
Everest Insurance, a member of Everest Re Group, Ltd., has an opportunity available for an Underwriting Assistant for our Western Region to be based in our Orange, CA office. This position can also be based in our Walnut Creek or San Francisco office.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
This individual will be performing new and renewal submission processing for workers compensation including multi-state rating. Responsibilities also include reviewing applications, rating including experience rating, verification of forms, binders, processing cancellations and reinstatements, requesting loss control and bureau inspections, reviewing historical loss information, preparation of deductible and dividend plans, accessing various internal and external applications and communicating with underwriters and appointed agents on a daily bases.
Additional responsibilities will include, but are not limited to,
• Processing new business submissions, renewal submissions and endorsements.
• New, renewal and endorsement processing including rating, policy construction and assembly.
• Maintaining all correspondence activity with internal and external customers including daily diaries on pending transactions.
• Creating cancellations and reinstatements according to ODEN state rules and regulations.
• Ordering and review of experience reports, final audits, loss control reports, financial reports, loss runs, MVRs, and FEINs.
• Scanning, photocopying, answering and directing phone calls.
• Special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
• College degree preferred, but not required.
• 1 – 3 years of related experience desired.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong organizational and interpersonal skills; the ability to work in a team environment and handle multiple deadlines.
• The ability to understand ODEN rules and regulations and various state and bureau rules will be essential, while providing a strong level of support to multiple underwriters.
• The ability to work in both a paper and paperless (Imaged) environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically in MS Excel.
• Multi-line commercial business experience is beneficial but not required.
