Mortgage Loan Officer
Opportunity Overview
The Mortgage Loan Officer attracts and makes real estate loans by building relationships with realtors, contractors, bank clients and other members of the local community. Loans must meet Bank standards for economic value and safety to contribute to the long-term profitability of the Bank’s operations.
As a Mortgage Loan Officer for Banner Bank, you will have the opportunity to:
• Originate real estate loans from various sources: Realtor business developed through a structured outside calling program, contractors (both Banner Bank customers and others), referrals from branch personnel, general public through normal business relationships (i.e. service organizations, friends, acquaintances, etc.), and walk-in and call-in customers
• Ensure originated loans are set up in the Bank's computer system and processed through for submission to underwriting
• Provide financing sheets for listings and Realtor/builder open houses
• Attend weekend open houses and/or subdivisions for loan solicitation purposes
• Attend regular Realtor Association and Builder Association meetings
• Take applications and/or meet with clients at Banner Bank branch locations
• Attend closing signing appointments as needed
• Attend internal training sessions, internal sales meetings, and external training
• Comply with policies, procedures, security requirements, and government regulations

QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Certifications
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, marketing or a related field preferred
Experience
• 3 or more years of experience in banking or mortgage lending origination required
Required Skills
• Expert in mortgage loan origination processes and procedures, regulations and underwriting
• Effective presentation, verbal and written communication, and negotiation skills
• Knowledge of current market competition, sales strategies, trends and activity
• Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations relating to real estate lending and of state housing agency loan programs, low to moderate income lending and Community Reinvestment Act
