This colleague will be responsible for developing and implementing tax planning ideas, conducting tax due diligence for potential acquisitions, overseeing federal and state tax audits in all tax areas and developing tax memoranda supporting all aspects of tax planning.
Responsibilities:
• Assist with the planning and direction of the development and implementation of tax planning that support meeting the tax function's key financial metrics;
• Company's primary liaison with taxing authorities and RBC home office with respect to tax audits;
• Prepare and review all written submissions to tax authorities;
• Monitor the effectiveness of tax policies, tax practices and processes to determine efficiency and effectiveness for informational reporting, corporate governance, income tax and indirect taxes;
• Interact with other internal organizations to provide tax advice and identify tax planning opportunities;
• Manage all aspects of various tax projects, including analyzing relevant tax law for tax planning transactions, working with external tax advisors to understand relevant tax rules;
• Ensuring that all aspects of tax planning are accurately reflected in the financial statements;
• Advise senior management of the business impact of new tax laws and related income and transaction tax regulations, court decisions and proposed tax legislations;
• Complies fully with all Bank Operational and Credit policies and procedures as well as all regulatory requirements (e.g. Bank Secrecy Act, Know Your Client, Community Reinvestment Act, Fair Lending Practices, Code of Conduct, etc.);
• Completes all required training.

Basic Qualifications:
• *Bachelor's degree in Finance, General Business or Accounting required.
• *CPA or JD certification required.
• *Minimum of 10 years' relevant tax experience required.
• *Previous experience in a supervisory role.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge:
• Master's degree in Tax
• Excellent written and oral communication abilities and strong computer modeling skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships both within the Finance Division and throughout the bank
• Effective project management skills; strong quantitative analysis skills and knowledge of financial/accounting reporting systems and software tools and GAAP principles and internal control procedures.
