Job Description
ABOUT THE JOB (JOB BRIEF)
Support over-all responsibility for activities related to the SMA product which includes relationships with external clients, line of business partners, investment managers, and operations personnel. This position is responsible for ensuring transactions are processed, handling inquires/requests and quality control for Separately Managed Account (SMA) clients. Specific functions include: daily reconciliations, opening new accounts, problem solving, communicating with clients and advisors, on-boarding and training new investment managers and become the subject matter expert for SMA product.
Provides support to department Manager, team lead, and Associates to ensure the proper entry, confirmation, and trade resolution for all facets of Equity and Fixed Income Trading including non-deposit accounts. The individual will assist and support Investment/Trust professionals in a Trust and Investment Management environment. Additionally, an Analyst III researches and resolves reconciling exceptions within set time standards and assists management in making improvements from a manual to an automated environment within this diverse, fast paced and ever-changing environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with multiple stakeholders, including external clients, line of business partners, investment managers, and operations personnel.
• Responsible for ensuring SMA requests are processed including new accounts, funding, contributions, withdrawals, restrictions, account maintenance, terminations, corporate action, pricing, and manager changes
• Determine if account trading should be halted due to out of balance condition
• Resolve trade restriction issues between client and Investment Manager
• Establish new managers on system and provide training on Key’s SMA process
• Support incoming calls from financial advisors and clients
• Take a leadership role in operational projects and client requests
• Update and maintain department policies and procedures
• Perform quality control review on team members work
• Monitor notifications for processing requests
• Analyze management and client request to create and run ad hoc reports
• Provide training for new employees and daily guidance
• Research and resolve trade exceptions and failed trades through coordination and follow-up with investment managers and/or brokers and other Investment Ops areas on a timely basis
• Support External Common and Collective Funds:
• Analyze external fund statements and balance to month-end totals by processing management fees, cost adjustments, reinvested dividends and income receipts.
• Approve and process incoming and outgoing wires timely and according to wire processing procedures.
• Ability to identify issues and effectively research and resolve problems, including definition of root cause
• Act as a back-up to other team members
• Support team with approvals, reversals, and end of day activities
• Capable of learning and navigating such systems as the Global Plus Accounting System, APL, Decalog Manager, Bloomberg AIM, Omgeo Alert, and independently handle all necessary system transactions and reconciliations
• Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time, and meet tight trading deadlines
MARGINAL OR PERIPHERAL FUNCTIONS:
• Participate in Business Reviews and Continuous Improvement initiatives
• Provide problem solving ability as well as support to others with problem solving
• Provide proactive client service
• Work in a team environment and implement continuous improvement initiatives to increase quality, speed and productivity within the department
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND/OR RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business-related area or equivalent work experience
• Experience working with Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word) required
• Basic knowledge of the financial industry
