Description
California Bank and Trust, a leader amongst banks in California with over $10 billion in assets and nearly 100 branch offices in the state, is currently seeking a Portfolio Manager. The Portfolio Manager will manage a team of analysts supporting a large loan portfolio comprised of about 200 loans. The Portfolio Manager will be charged with leading a newly created portfolio management team that will primarily manage the existing portfolio and offer support to the originations team.

Position Responsibilities:
• Responsible for managing and servicing a portfolio of existing loan relationships.
• Responsible for expanding and building relationships with a high degree of resultant customer satisfaction.
• Responsible for ensuring financial statements are spread and analyzed, addressing industry risks, monitoring collateral requirements, loan structuring and pricing, credit analysis, monitoring credit performance and assisting with loan presentations.
• Responsible for developing a new group / function within our commercial banking unit.
• Responsible for designing and implementing necessary procedures with little guidance.
• Handles reporting on loans such as past dues, documentation and collateral exceptions, financial performance updates, portfolio profitability, risk grades, etc.
• Keeps informed of financial and market trends in the portfolio and analyzes those trends for the effect they will have on the portfolio.
• Assists bankers with new and existing loan requests and other special projects.
• Will train and manage Analysts and Loan Specialists.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Requires a bachelor's degree in Finance, Business or other related field and 8+ years of banking, relationship management, underwriting and credit experience or other directly related experience. An advanced degree/certificate of MBA, CFA or CPA is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may meet qualifications.
• Advanced knowledge of various types of loans, credit analysis, spreading and analyzing financial statements, risk analysis, credit scoring, loan documentation, etc.
• Excellent commercial underwriting and strong knowledge of commercial loan documentation and portfolio management.
• Advanced knowledge of banking products, services, policies, procedures and regulations.
• Excellent credit skills in underwriting, financial modeling, valuations and adherence to policy.
• Requires excellent customer service, relationship, organizational, analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
• Knowledge of various software applications including word processing and spreadsheets.
• Ability to train, guide and mentor new hires and lower level staff.
• Excellent level of attention to detail
• Creative self-starter
• Confidence in their knowledge and ability to make decisions
• Intermediate Excel and Office experience
