Opportunity Overview
This role provides quality solutions by supporting a variety of professional, technical and analytical duties in the operation of enterprise, client/server and desktop computer systems and networks. Assignments include work in the areas of user and systems requirements and analysis, computer systems, network support, system maintenance, and data/database analysis/administration. Incumbent assists in design, development, testing, documentation, implementation and support of quality solutions within targeted timeframes.
• Analyze, detect, identify and correct technical problems and deficiencies by supporting one of the following areas of IS:
◦ Network Environment
# Networking Technologies: LAN, WAN, DNS, TCP/IP
◦ System Administration – Unix/Linix/Windows
# Operating Systems: Windows, Linux, Unix, Solaris
• Monitor and collect data on system performance.
• Plan, develop and implement backup and recovery procedures.
• Generate reporting statistics to identify trending issues
• Schedule vendor maintenance and repair activities
• Perform Change functions to assure maximum performance and reliability
• Perform software reloads and upgrades for desktop computer systems
Develop, enhance and maintain documentation for Information Systems
Position Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering preferred or equivalent related work experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of Analytical and Technical Experience.
• Certification in computer science, network administration, Microsoft, or telecommunications specialty programs may be considered in meeting the education and training guidelines.
Problem Solving:
• Identify, research, and resolve technical problems associated to monitoring systems
• Follows Methodologies, Standards and Procedures and will engage resources if needed
• Ability to relate technical issues to business operations and impact
• Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
• Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish responsibilities
• Spends significant time interfacing with support teams, technical associates, and vendors
• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills to document the problem, resolution, root cause, and to recommend operational improvements.
• Ability to efficiently prioritize and organize competing work demands with little oversight
Decision Making:
Decision are made daily for low to medium, non-routine situations which can potentially effect costs, results, availability and performance.
• Incumbent must go to multiple sources to gather data to resolve problems and bring to resolution which also involves troubleshooting of technical components with some guidance from more senior-level analysts. Incumbent must analyze data and assess impact as multiple workflows and processes could be impacted amd result in financial losses for the firm. Incumbent makes decisions on how to resolve problems and the decisions are reviewed by leadership.
Span of Influence:
The position has a moderate span of influence over the IS areas and some Business areas that directly interact with the department.
