Analyze claim files and other company files as required. Based on review, determine research methods. Conduct research using various sources, including but not limited to subscription databases and the Internet. Adapt research strategy based on analysis of information obtained. Prepare written summaries of research findings for others.
Responsibilities
Contribute to the company’s success through excellent customer service and meeting or exceeding performance objectives for the following major job functions:
1. Objectively and adequately review and analyze files to gain understanding of insurance coverage and insurance transactions, and identify factors to assist in research.
2. Cultivate depth and understanding in specific claim areas related to, but not necessarily limited to: policy verbiage, limitations and medical information.
3. Adjust research strategy based on understanding of disability claim and analyst’s needs.
4. Conduct online and other research to assist investigators and other personnel in investigating fraud, as well as claims and other insurance transactions. Use subscription databases and other Internet sources. Identify, validate, collect and organize pertinent information related to, but not necessarily limited to: employment, work history, business activity and affiliations, business history, professional licenses, assets, property, established residences, criminal and civil legal activity, vital statistics, social activity, and physical and mental capacities.
5. Isolation of pertinent information in the process of preparing clear, thorough, accurate and objective written summaries of research results for various customers using approved formats. Edit as required by supervisor and internal customers.
6. Monitor and track research sources. Report changes to supervisor. Educate supervisor and others on research sources and/or changes to them. Investigate and verify validity of new information sources.
7. Track production on assigned projects in spreadsheets and/or databases and report progress to supervisor and others at regular interval. Perform ad hoc administrative functions to assist the Special Investigations Unit in performance of its primary functions, including implementation of its anti-fraud program.
Qualifications
Education: College degree required. Criminal Justice preferred or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
Experience: One to two years of experience with customer contact in a high volume service environment. Proficiency with online research and navigation, including, but not limited to the proficiency with public record websites and social networks. Proficiency with typical office equipment and software (Word, Access, Excel, Powerpoint)
