The product manager role is a key contributor to the development of Mobile and digital payments both inside and outside of Discover. The role works on highly complex payment products and services, with product development responsibilities for Discover Digital Exchange, which enables issuer participation in digital wallets, and our developer Portal, which provides third-party developer access to our externalized APIs and SDK.
This person is responsible for ongoing development, maintenance , and enhancement of Discover’s authentication, mobile, contact/contactless , and relevant payment technology- based technical specifications. This person will contribute to industry working groupons on industry specifications. This person will also collaborate with multiple business and technology stakeholders and manage functionality inputs and delivery outputs for platforms that enables various payment mechanisms.
The core responsibility of as a Product Manager for Digital Payments is to manage the evolution and dissemination of the product roadmap, working with and coordinating with cross-product teams avoid duplicate solutions and promote common services across all Mobile payment form factors and channels.
*This role is ideally located in Riverwoods (IL) but Phoenix (AZ), New Albany (OH), or remote would be considered.
Responsibilities
• Prepare s material for management.
• Meet s with department heads, managers, supervisors, vendors, and others, to solicit cooperation and resolve problems.
• Research es global payment trends, competitor’s landscape , and policies. Participate s in industry standardization efforts.
• Analyzes workflow, establishes priorities, developing standards , and setting deadlines. Ensures product features are in line with business vision, current business environment , and technology trends. Work with development teams of device manufacturers to ensure development to specifications. Manage s a nd develop s a strategy and framework for testing, validation and/or certification for form factors enabling payment capabilities .
Skills:
Minimum Qualifications
At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer, Science, Computer Engineering, Business, Marketing, Communication, or related field
• 6+ years of experience in card payments, network, acquiring, issuing, mobile technologies, EMV, or related field
• In lieu of a degree, 8+ years of experience in card payments, network, acquiring, issuing, mobile technologies, EMV, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
If we had our say, we’d also look for:
• Master’s Degree other related advanced degree
• 2+ years of background experience in Fintech platforms or start ups; 7+ years of business experience with product development experience in digital payments and/or advanced payment platforms
• Experience with AGILE/SCRUM; strong grasp of mobile and digital payment architectures/technologies including tokenization, HCE, and TSMs and familiarity with standards including EMV, NFC, and global platform
