Position Summary
Develops and maintains contract language for policy and endorsement forms. Researches and monitors government legislation that impacts products and implements applicable changes. Provides up-to-date product information for Policyholders, Agents, internal business units, and corporate literature.
The position is in product development for private passenger auto.
Candidates may be considered for Product Development Specialist II based on qualifications.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Drafts basic policy language for existing products as well as informational documents regarding language revisions to be reviewed by higher level specialist, supervisor, and/or business units.
• Prepares state insurance filings and responds to any objections to gain state approval.
• Participates in and supports IT projects related to product changes.
• Researches, analyzes and interprets insurance laws, regulations and court decisions to determine effect on ERIE products and procedures. Works closely with required functional areas to determine the business impact of changes in these areas and to implement required changes by specified effective date.
• Ensures policies/attachments are printed correctly and on-time per regulations; identifies process improvements.
• Participates in state audits, claims inquiries and compliance issues.
• Serves as consultant for marketing and educational materials.

Qualifications
The minimum education and experience requirements are as follows:
• Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, risk management, insurance or related field, required; or
• Associate's degree and two years experience with insurance contract and compliance analysis, Law, Underwriting, Claims, or related business unit with working knowledge of assigned lines of business required; or
• High school diploma, or GED, and four years experience with insurance contract and compliance analysis, Law, Underwriting, Claims, or related business unit with working knowledge of assigned lines of business, required.
Successful completion of General Insurance Program, preferred. Successful completion of one part of CIC, or one part of CPCU, preferred. Experience using word processing, SharePoint, spreadsheet and database software, preferred. Knowledge of policies, forms and rating, preferred. Knowledge of state and federal laws as related to applicable lines of business, preferred. Technical knowledge of ERIE and industry forms, preferred.
