The Sr. Business Analyst under limited direction acts as an intermediary between the business community and the technical community working with IT project teams and business clients to collect, clarify, and translate business requirements into documentation and conceptual design (using appropriate tools and models) from which applications and solutions are developed.
Responsible for the overall coordination, consolidation and reconciliation of end to end requirements which requires building partnership with the business and IT to define and document the business goals for the purpose of IT projects and initiatives. Analyses business and user needs, documents requirements and translates into system requirement specifications. Work at the highest technical level of most phases of systems analysis while considering the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment.
Major Areas of Accountability:
• Lead the overall coordination, consolidation and reconciliation of end to end requirements gathering, analyzing, documenting, and managing changes) for moderate to complex projects. Gains thorough understanding of project requirements, and acts as key liaison to business partners for on all project deliverables.
• Lead business requirements gathering and scope meetings with technical, business and client stakeholders to define the functional requirements for a project. Acts as primary liaison to the business throughout the project lifecycle including facilitate planning discussions with technical, business and client stakeholders.
• Partner with business and technology partners to understand, analyze, translate, document and communicate the business’ vision into functional needs and requirements for the implementation of business system solutions.
• Identify and document current and future business state through process models and use case definitions. Discuss and negotiate approved business requirements and IT commitments and ensure business needs are met. Ensure adjustments are documented and approved.
• In partnership with QA, coordinates business acceptance testing and business implementation validation, which may include assisting with writing test conditions, scripts, and/or scenarios and participation in testing.
• Lead post-production discussions and is involved in all discussions involving functional gap analysis and remediation strategy.
• Coordinates the project resources to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget
• Provides technical guidance and leadership to less-experienced individuals. Analyzes metrics to ensure for client satisfaction is achieved.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of technology solutions, policies, practices and processes and establish metrics for released applications.
• Prepare project status reports and communicate status to client and project team leads as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other technical field or equivalent work experience
Preferred:
• Advanced training in project management methodologies, data modeling or other related IT disciplines that enhance the capabilities of the project team
Required work experience/skills:
• 7+ years of IT Business or System Analyst experience
• Demonstrated experience and competency in eliciting system requirements and producing requirement artifacts (functional specifications, use cases, business process flows, data flows, story boards, etc.)
• Ability to express business concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, with strong attention to details
• Demonstrated experience in acting as a liaison between IT and business stakeholders to enable project progression
• Demonstrated ability to guide and influence others
• Financial Services industry experience
• Business Analysis (CBAP) certification
• Coach / mentor other team members as appropriate
• This position generally does not require enhanced levels of information security access rights and/or privileges
