CliftonLarsonAllen is growing and looking to hire a Controller to join our outsourcing practice in our Spokane, WA. Our BizOps team provide customized, permanent, part-time solutions in finance and accounting to the clients we serve, as well as project related support as requested. The controller is accountable for identifying and implementing best practices related to the services provided to add value to the client.
CLA's outsourcing practice is known for high-quality people who contribute efficient processes, valuable financial information, and industry-specific knowledge to assist management and boards to more effectively plan for the future.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare, or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, budgets, or reports required by regulatory agencies.
• Monitors and evaluates the performance of accounting and other financial staff, recommending and implementing actions.
• Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions.
• Prepare documentation and compile requests for financial statement audits
• Develops internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting.
• Coordinates and directs the financial planning, budgeting, procurements, or investment activities for all or part of an organization.
• Evaluate cash management and forecasting needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses and make appropriate recommendations.
• Maintains knowledge of client’s organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards. Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of accounting software packages.
• Develop full knowledge of GAAP (FASB/SFAS) and deep understanding of financial and operational aspects of his/her specific industry.
Job Requirements
• 7+ years relative work experience as an Assistant Controller, Controller, or equivalent for Controller work.
• Leadership experience; ability to lead and train
• Proficiency and aptitude for applicable software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
• Education: BA/BS degree in accounting or related field required.
• Certification: CPA preferred.
• Ability to travel periodically to local client sites

• Strong time management and organizational skills/goal orientation/self-motivation/problem solving.
• Ability to handle pressure in a positive professional manner.
• Effective communicator with a variety of levels and topics and communication style which is high impact and encourages openness
• Provides coaching opportunities for others to develop and pursue their passions.
• Manages challenging issues and understands when appropriate to leverage internal experts
• System expertise in accounting software, QuickBooks or industry specific accounting software a plus
