The Payroll Assistant is responsible for entering new hire information into the HRMS, verifying employment, providing customer service, following and updating payroll processes and procedures, and maintaining employee records. This position provides customer service support through email and assists payroll department with other duties.
Essential Duties:
• Enter new hire payroll information by verifying and entering personal and job information, and calculates wages for first pay.
• Maintain employee records by entering changes in exemptions, deductions, personal information, job titles, transfers, moves, charge rates, and state taxes into HRMS database.
• Complete employee verifications of employment requests (primarily mortgage verification) and state unemployment verification. Coordinate with regional HR as appropriate.
• Provide e-mail customer support by answering questions and requests through the payroll mailbox such as pay, direct deposit, time entry, forms, and personal information. Escalates questions to appropriate payroll team member.
• Follows policies and procedures for payroll processing. Prepares communications and maintains updates on changes in procedures and government regulations.
• Maintain employee records by copying, faxing, scanning, and filing.
• Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
• High school diploma
• 1-2 years’ experience with data entry into payroll or similar system
• 1-2 years customer service experience
• Excellent data entry skills
• Extreme attention to detail
• Solid math skills
• Ability to work to deadlines
• Excellent customer service skills
