Section 1: Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist will engage in the development, planning and implementation of employee relations policies and procedures. The Generalist will work in collaboration with the centers of excellence across Human Resources as well as business leaders within Ascensus, reporting directly to the Director of Associate Relations.
Section 2: Job Functions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.

• Partner with third party administrator on FMLA processes
• Perform various associate relations duties, including associate counseling, equal employment opportunity and disability services.
• Investigate and document employee complaints and disputes and recommend appropriate course of action
• Educate new and current employees on employee relations policies
• Lead and participate in various projects within Human Resources.
• Develop communications and/or edit Human Resources policies and guidelines when project requires
• Research, benchmark, and produce detailed reports, in support of the development of HR management practices
• Monitor and enforce government regulations and legislations
• Work as a liaison between the business units and human resources
• Participate in interdepartmental initiatives and projects as a HR Subject Matter Expert (SME)
• Manage client expectations, clearly explain policies, processes, procedures and service timelines
• Assist with other tasks and projects as assigned

Section 3: Experience, Skills, Knowledge Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the Human Resources field
• General understanding of all functional areas of Human Resources
• Ability to work cross-functionally within Human Resources as well as effectively interact with other departments within Ascensus to build strong relationships
• Ability to shift focus, multi-task, and prioritize in a rapidly changing environment
• Productivity – prioritize tasks, develop effective work procedures, manage time well, sense of urgency and an ability to instill it in others when necessary
• Experience maintaining associate information in an HRIS system, Workday experience a plus
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to regularly assume a broad variety of moderately complex administrative duties, assemble reports containing confidential and sensitive information and respond to questions or requests.
• Experience and working knowledge of federal and state respective employment laws
• High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation
• Works with moderate supervisor
• Detailed oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
• Good listening skills; negotiate effectively
• Strong interpersonal skills with internal and external clients
