Strategic Advisers, LLC. The Role
The Investment Manager will join the Personalized Investment Management team in our Colorado office. This person will be responsible for providing tax-sensitive, customized management of multi-asset class portfolios for taxable individuals and trusts for Fidelity Wealth Services. You will learn and implement our overlay management strategies with a goal to improve after-tax returns while controlling risk. You will also play a role in SA's next generation of sophisticated investment solutions which include custom multi-account investment management and asset location strategies.
Responsibilities
Portfolio Management
• Manage individual client portfolios consistent with Strategic Advisers' investment philosophy and the unique personalization of each client account. Implement investment strategies based on market movements, tax management opportunities, changes in model portfolio or investment choices.
• Develop a deep understanding of internal analyst and portfolio manager research on individual securities, ETFs, mutual funds, portfolio construction, and business cycle positioning in order to achieve superior pre- and after-tax returns consistent with the SA investment philosophy.
• Mastery of portfolio construction and investment analytic software to efficiently implement complex portfolio construction while being able to decipher and clearly understand the impacts on investment risk, taxes and return characteristics.
• Participate in helping to generate and provide new ideas for future technical design requirements to further drive the scale and efficiency of the investment platform.
• Monitor and carry out fiduciary responsibilities with a high-level of integrity.
Client Engagement
• Provide recommendations to clients on security transfers for charitable intentions and personalized transition analysis for hypothetical scenarios.
• Present detailed investment processes, philosophies, and capital market dynamics in front of larger groups including both internal colleagues and external clients.
• Craft customized communication incorporating analysis on performance attribution, portfolio positioning and market review for specific client portfolios.
Qualifications
Experience/Education
• Graduate degree preferred; degree or emphasis in finance/accounting/economics subjects strongly preferred
• Existing or progress toward CFA, CPA, or CFP credential
• Five to seven years investment experience in research, portfolio management or trading
• Seven to ten years industry experience
Skills and Knowledge
• Ability to operate in a demanding environment with an adaptable skill set, creative problem solving skills, and the ability to multi-task
• Excellent attention to detail, as well as great analytical skills that allow for independent judgment and conclusive reasoning while adhering to significant time constraints
• Deep understanding of portfolio theory and quantitative portfolio construction techniques in a taxable environment
• Ability to work effectively on a collaborative team with a strong spirit of innovation, maintaining comfort in undefined environments
• Basic understanding of the tax code and portfolio management for taxable clients
• Data science and programming skills a plus
