Zurich (New York, NY) seeks a Market Facing Underwriter IV to analyze and underwrite highly complex new and renewal business, under minimal direction. Specific duties include: administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating manuals; work at the highest authority limits on assignments utilizing the highest degree of technical complexity and coordination; develop and maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) in support of business retention and acquisition and work with customers and distributors (agents & brokers) to determine their insurance related needs and provide solutions; support the Zurich sales culture by being a HelpPoint for agents, brokers, and customers; provide expert advice to significant customer(s) and/or development of SBU/SSU strategic plans to enhance opportunities and reduce business risk; ensure successful implementation of key technical initiatives by consulting with executives and other leaders to gain their commitment and improve their business effectiveness; and add value by identifying need to modify SBU/SSU policies, programs or services and develop cost-effective proposals. Must be willing to travel occasionally within the U.S.
Basic Qualifications:
• Position requires a High School Diploma, or foreign equivalent
• Plus 7 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Commercial Underwriter, Corporate Property Underwriter, Property Underwriting Manager, Broker Account Manager, Senior Broker Account Manager, or in a similar underwriting position.
• Specific experience must include 4 years of experience leading complex and large accounts
• 3 years of experience with each of the following: leading collaboration and cross-functional interactions; consulting on complex and/or custom techniques for unique pricing situations; developing pricing recommendations for complex or unique situations; customizing coverages for complex scenarios; building sales/account pipeline; working with complex trends in the insurance industry; making connections between risk reduction and customer/client industry trends; determining how company can provide value-add solutions; and driving long-term sales strategy.
• Experience must also include 1 year of experience with each of the following: leading the development and implementation of new pricing models; spearheading initiatives to respond to changes in laws and regulations; anticipating trends and implications to the business; and determining organizational objectives and needs of customer/client and/or broker/agent.
• Must have high school diploma.
• Must be willing to travel occasionally within the U.S.
