Senior Vice President, M&A and Partnerships, Data & Services
Overview
The Data & Services team is a key differentiator for Mastercard, providing the cutting-edge services that help our customers grow. Focused on thinking big and scaling fast around the globe, this agile team is responsible for end-to-end solutions for a diverse global customer base. Centered on data-driven technologies and innovation, these services include payments-focused consulting, loyalty and marketing programs, business Test & Learn experimentation, and data-driven information and risk management services.
Data & Services is going to take a proactive approach to M&A and partnerships in order to expand and improve our offerings and drive growth and recurring revenues. This team will work in close partnership with the Data & Services strategy team and Mastercard’s corporate development team to identify and analyze possible acquisitions or strategic partnerships, make recommendations on the impact of the organization’s capabilities and product portfolio, build business cases, conduct related analyses, and participate in due diligence.
Role
• Define and articulate the M&A and partnership strategy and approach for D&S
• Identify key areas where D&S should look for inorganic growth opportunities in support of the D&S global growth strategy
• Create a process by which we will evaluate opportunities that is consistent with the D&S strategy and the approach used by Mastercard’s corporate development function
• Develop/ foster relationships with innovative companies in the D&S space which may lead to commercial collaboration or M&A
• Play a leading role in identifying and screening acquisition ideas and developing a prioritized pipeline of targets aligned to strategic initiatives
• Reactively evaluate opportunities that are presented to D&S as potential opportunities
• Working with the corporate development team, conduct cross-functional due diligence and determine the best structure and approach for deals
• Working with the corporate development team, fully understand the financial impact and risks of potential acquisitions and investments and the associated remediation plans
• Manage a team of 2-3 additional resources
• Work in close harmony with Mastercard’s corporate development group on all steps of the sourcing and diligence process
All About You:
• Significant prior business experience
• Experience defining the M&A strategy, building a prioritized pipeline, managing a systematic approach to identifying and screening acquisition ideas, and managing acquisition processes
• Experience presenting and supporting finding to senior executive team
• Ability to influence and lead others by example through strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
• Exceptional collaboration skills to work with other parts of the organization and the corporate development team
• Strong financial skills, including ability to model business case and synergies, and develop creative financing structures
• Experience integrating acquisition targets a plus
• College Degree required; MBA or advanced degree desired
