Zurich Insurance is currently looking for a Market Facing Underwriter/Underwriting Analyst for our Accident & Health Group Accident Division in our New York Office. This is a technical, and market facing position. Experience with Group Corporate Accident and/or Group Special Risk lines of business is preferred, but not required. As a member of Zurich's Specialty Underwriting Team you will enjoy the opportunity to fully apply and hone your underwriting and marketing skills. Specifically, you will underwrite and analyze new and renewal Accident business utilizing The Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework within delegated authority levels.
This opportunity will start by learning the processes and product working with a Senior Market Facing Underwriter. The expectation is that the individual in this role can start rating, quoting and working with brokers within 120 days.
Our Underwriters are market-facing with objectives focused on profitable growth and superior service to our broker partners and customers.
Our Market Facing Underwriter is responsible for:
• Generating, underwriting and analyzing Group Corporate Accident & Group Special Risk business
• Market facing and production activities within the Specialties Division
• Complying with underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rules
• Developing and maintaining agency and broker relationships
• Working within broad limits and authorities on complex assignments
Basic Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 1 or more years of experience in the Insurance area
OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
AND
• Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment
• Knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree with 1 or more years experience in the underwriting area, preferably Accident and Health experience.
• Strong negotiation skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Microsoft Office skills
