Job Description
SUMMARY: Creates, manages and improves Data Integration processes and Database system support functions related to key business platforms. Supports critical business strategies by managing the development, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise database applications and frameworks. Improves hardware and software processes in line with critical business strategies by managing the development, installation, vendor selection, maintenance and repair of Database equipment. Leads multiple projects and oversees team members to ensure that specifications are met. Manages Database teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties and special projects may be assigned)
• Oversees and is responsible for Enterprise Databases, Database Infrastructure, Hardware and associated software frameworks including service levels, staffing, strategies, and policy/procedure development.
• Manage a team of Database engineers and assist in the implementation and maintenance phases throughout a systems life cycle.
• Lead/manage the delivery of solutions provided by the teams.
• Ensure the Enterprise database infrastructure, associated hardware and software frameworks requirements, specifications, processes and work assignments are delivered.
• Improve Database hardware and software processes to support critical business strategies by managing the development, implementation, vendor selection, and maintenance of hardware and software solutions .
• Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrate commitment in areas of strategic importance to the organization.
• Evaluate vendor hardware and software products to provide recommendations to management and ensures recommendations are consistent with organizational short and long-term goals.
• Proactively monitor Databases and sub systems to capture potential issues (e.g. alerts, performance) before they occur.
• Ensure Database system environments are fully maintained with appropriately supported updates, patches and/or service packs.
• Mentor junior team members.
• Accept responsibility for deliverables and timeline commitments.
• Initiate and track issue assignment to internal, vendor, and other resources, while keeping the customer updated on the status.
• Responsible for building and maintaining working relationships with business lines and ensuring that all issues are handled appropriately and escalated to management as necessary.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Delegate and re-assigns tasks as needed.
• Communicates and is the focal point for the dissemination of information from management to the team and vice versa.
• Design, develop, and implement support processes, technology toolsets, performance goals and documentation standards.
• Troubleshoots areas of poor performance and identifies effective solutions to resolve issues both immediate and longer term.
• Ensure the team delivers a professional, customer-focused and high performing level of support.
• Directly supervise the team members.
• Define, develop and execute personnel training road-maps to enhance skills and promote cross-training
• Perform performance reviews for direct reports.
• Identify inefficiencies; propose changes, streamline operating processes, ensure scalable capacity and reduce overall expenses.
• Provide continuing quality improvement through ongoing assessment.
• Oversee assigned projects to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with specified objectives, budget and timelines.
• Ability to interact with all levels of personnel across the enterprise to determine technology requirements
• Knowledgeable of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within Enterprise Applications and Network Support.
QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:
• Strong technical, analytical and problem solving skills
• Experience researching and keeping "abreast" of technical/ business solutions and security requirements within the Banking industry.
• Experience managing teams, projects and budgets
• Customer service and vendor management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Ability to work with employees and management at all levels
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Education: A four-year college degree is preferred but not required
Experience: 7+ years of experience within Information Technology
COMMUNICATION/LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to speak, read and write in the English language; Spanish (or other languages) helpful. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos; write simple correspondence; and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; and compute rate, ratio, and percent; and to draw and interpret bar graphs. An understanding of higher mathematical concepts may be required for specific departments.
REASONING AND ANALYSIS ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Technology related certifications are preferred.
