The Aggregation and Exposure Management (AEM) group is seeking an experienced analyst to join a highly technical and dynamic team, tasked with driving improvement in the company’s overall management of aggregation risk and improving profitability. This team is responsible for identifying, monitoring, and managing aggregation risk including natural catastrophes, terrorism, cyber liability, and other casualty aggregations.
This position will report to the VP of Aggregation and Catastrophe Management and will interact frequently with professionals throughout the company. It requires an advanced knowledge of modeling, either as an experienced predictive modeler or catastrophe modeler, as well as a firm knowledge of insurance. This candidate should possess solid fundamentals in writing small programs, querying data, performing data analytics, and researching solutions for complex problems. A person in this role will have the opportunity to serve as a team leader on complex projects while interacting frequently with leaders from several disciplines, including: underwriting, reinsurance placements, claims, and risk control. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Provides advanced consulting on modeling concepts to business partners and senior management.
2. Analyzes data to discover insights to enhance decision-making.
3. Develops tools that allow underwriters to make better risk selection or pricing decisions at the desk level.
4. Researches complex exposure management topics and provides solutions to business problems.
5. Explores new methodology and tools to capture data. Includes the review of new papers as well as coordination of evaluation and testing of new methods; supports development of new tools as needed; and develops metrics for existing and new methods.
6. Researches complex modeling topics, communicates with and provides technical guidance to business units and senior management regarding findings and recommendations.
7. May direct the work activities or have full management responsibility for the performance and development of subordinate staff in accordance with corporate strategic direction.
May lead and/or participate in special projects.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
1. Advanced level of knowledge of catastrophe models (AIR or RMS) or significant experience developing predictive models.
2. Advanced understanding of insurance, including policy terms and conditions.
3. Excellent analytical critical thinking and problem solving skills with the ability to effectively resolve complex situations and issues.
4. Senior-level project management organizing and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively and lead teams.
5. Ability to interact and collaborate with all levels of CNA’s internal and external business partners; possessing excellent communication negotiation and presentation skills.
6. Ability to exercise professional judgment and to assume responsibility for key decisions.
7. Ability to solve problems under time pressure; use and manage all available resources to make informed decisions and achieve superior results.
8. Can creatively and effectively manage through ambiguous and challenging business problems, lead through change, and take appropriate levels of risk.
9. Understands how to use metrics appropriately to make and guide informed business decisions.
10. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software systems including: processing systems and applications, software tools, programming languages, computer modeling, and spreadsheet applications.
Education and Experience
1. Bachelor's degree required with master’s preferred.
2. Typically a minimum of 6 years of catastrophe or predictive modeling experience.
