Position Description
Credit Risk analysts ensure that Ally makes sound risk decisions. As a Senior Mortgage Credit Risk Analyst, your work, whether it's identifying key risks or tracking performance metrics, is used by Ally's senior leaders to make strategic business decisions. You make creative yet calculated decisions that are backed by both experience and knowledge while finding innovative ways to take on big picture challenges and solve important problems.
The Credit Risk team within the Risk Management function is responsible for analytics and reporting that enable effective review and challenge of credit risk being taken in the mortgage business, including risks associated with Ally's mortgage portfolio, new mortgage originations, bulk purchase mortgage acquisitions, new product offerings, and changes in underwriting guidelines or credit risk policy.
Ally's mortgage business is growing, with many initiatives that provide opportunities to combine strategic/big picture insights with an understanding of consumer trends and risk drivers.
Job Responsibilities
• Develop analysis/tools to track business growth to better understand the drivers and risks associated with that growth.
• Drive the development of new ways to identify and quantify risks to increase the effectiveness of Ally's risk appetite framework and key risk metrics.
• Provide senior management with clear insights into drivers of business risks and opportunities.
• Collaborate with the mortgage data team to ensure timely and accurate risk reporting.
• Review risk data processes to ensure completeness, accuracy, and reliability.
• Ensure management and regulatory reporting needs and requests are met.
Qualifications
Minimum:
• BS/BA degree and 3 years of experience in risk, quantitative analysis, or similar roles.
• Experience in SQL or SAS coding across relational environments (e.g., Oracle, MS SQL Server, etc.).
• Comfort level with ambiguity and ability to manage multiple assignments.
Preferred:
• Degree or advanced degree in a related field (e.g. Economics or Finance).
• Mortgage or Risk Management experience.
• Intermediate to advanced SAS or SQL programming.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel.
• Experience with Business Intelligence reporting tools such as PowerPivot/Tableau.
• Willingness to learn new coding languages.
