Background on the Team
Morgan Stanley’s Global Stock Plan Services (GSPS) organization provides Corporate Clients and their participants with administrative, recordkeeping, and execution services for their Stock Option Plans, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and Restricted Awards Plans. With administration services, GSPS provides on-going administrative support to Corporate Clients that includes report delivery as well as daily assistance with administrative and operational matters.
The GSPS Operations team is responsible for performing back office operational functions in support of the GSPS Business. The Business is in the process of migrating all its GSPS corporate clients to a new technology platform through a licensing agreement with Solium Financial Services. In addition, the business is in the process of defining and implementing a new partnered business model to provide executing broker functions and wealth management services to stock plan participants serviced by Solium. In both models, GSPS Operations will have to perform migration support, settlement, share delivery, cash management, billing and reconciliation functions in support of corporate clients under this new partnership. Resources are needed within the GSPS Operations organization to learn the new platform and design the new operating model. This is a unique opportunity to come into an organization, partner with the different teams on how they perform their day to day functions, and find creative ways to implement new processes using a different platform.
Background on the Position
In addition, this position will support GSPS reconciliation functions for both Legacy and Solium migrated clients. This team is responsible for the identifying imbalances and the reconciling of the stock plan shares and cash. In order to operate daily reconciliation functions, the group uses various applications to research breaks. Breaks often require escalation to various operation teams as well as external parties, such as branches and client managers. Several platforms need to be periodically utilized, reviewed, and checked throughout the day in order to successfully resolve breaks.
Primary Responsibilities
-Participate in the overall Solium Financial Services migration tasks related to Operational functions.
-Create process development opportunities by tracking and submitting ideas and solutions based on observation and analysis.
-Support UAT team for testing new developments
-Handle Statistical Reporting, Capacity Planning and metrics preparation submitted to Senior Management
-Contributes to refining controls and continuously improving and reducing risk for the team and other operational areas within stock plan.
Qualifications
Skills required (essential)
-Relevant industry experience/brokerage operations
-Strong problem solving and analytical skills
-Must be detail oriented as well as a logical and proactive thinker
-Must be able to work under pressure in a time sensitive environment
-Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask
-Proficiency on Microsoft Word and Excel
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Client-centric and a Team oriented player
-Series 7, 63 or 99 preferred but not required
-Level of Education: 4 Year College Degree
-Area of Concentration/Major Course of Study: Business, Finance, Economics
-Experience (Type/# of Years): 3 + years of relevant industry-brokerage operations
-Computer Literacy (Software Applications / Mainframe): MS Office products. Knowledge of operations and trading systems.
