Role Overview
The Director, Infrastructure Build Factory will lead a newly formed team setting up the Build organization as the delivery team transforms to the plan, build, run model. This team will partner with the Enterprise Architecture Solutions Architecture and Infrastructure organizations to deliver more comprehensive and agile service and solutions. Detailed responsibilities are outlined below:
Product Solution Build and Implementation Leadership
• Manages a team of build engineers and the service transition team for incoming business and infrastructure led projects that require Build and Implementation infrastructure resources, with a strong delivery focus to meet commitments, service levels, and deadlines. Facilitates availability and optimum utilization of resources, leveraging agile approaches as appropriate. Supervises workflows and establishes processing or project priorities.
• Maintains breadth and depth of technical delivery expertise including DevOps and infrastructure technologies such as cloud, large scale data management, network, servers, and storage to support team while ensuring all infrastructure solution builds are delivered against business requirements and align to existing standards.
• Ensures team works with other infrastructure teams for review/approval, where appropriate.
• Implements agile development techniques, as well as automation supporting the Continuous Delivery Pipeline.
• Facilitates availability and optimum utilization of resources, leveraging agile approaches as appropriate. Supervises workflows and establishes processing or project priorities.
• Oversees squads responsible for building out physical infrastructure components in support of Infrastructure Solution Design Architects in a systems environment and aligned to infrastructure standards.
• Leads support of BU projects on infrastructure delivery including server, storage, database, network routing and switching requirements including configuring, troubleshooting, and optimization.
• Ensures thorough analysis, coding, QA and change management in support of build projects.
• Monitors and reports on the progress of build projects, ensuring that projects are carried out in accordance with agreed standards, methods and procedures.
• Coordinates the implementation of new systems with other systems groups and leads transition to run
• Oversees the development of documentation for infrastructure components.
• Provides technical input into the contract negotiation with vendors.
• Escalation point for issue resolution, acts with integrity and a sense of urgency. Makes decisions in context, seeing implications for the bigger picture.
• Ensures the delivery of high quality build outs and support to user groups within specified timeframes.
• Delivers KPI data showing speed to market supporting data plus productivity metrics for each sub build team.
Business Orientation
• Maintains deep knowledge of the Experian and BU value proposition, client commercial structure, value that EITS and technology bring to Experian and our external clients.
• Able to translate business strategies into technology solutions working with business unit senior product development team members.
Relationship Management
• Builds and emphasizes trusted and authentic relationships within the businesses and IT as a strong listener, contributor and highly visible leader that works across all levels (executive and engineering) and services to establish effective relationships between stakeholders.
• Communicates team vision by using models and including multiple viewpoints for different stakeholders.
Innovation and Business Process Improvement
• Change agent who recognizes strategic application of evolving technologies and initiates and manages investigation and development of innovative methods, practices and technology, to benefit Experian solutions as well as furthering the commitment to continuous improvement across the team.
• Embraces continuous IT transformation in technologies and processes.
Organization and Team Performance Management
• Provides ongoing leadership, coaching, mentoring, training, professional development and support to achieve organization objectives. Responsible for formal processes including organization design, staff salary planning, personnel actions, and performance management process for a global team.
• Education:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field required.
• Relevant Work Experience:
◦ Overall 10+ years of experience in the technology profession focused on IT technology services design and management required with an emphasis on infrastructure but also an understanding application/product development.
◦ 5+ years in a management position (senior manager level).
◦ 3+ years working with public cloud based technologies, big data solutions and working with Agile development concepts.
