Job Description
Everest Insurance Company, a member of the Everest Re Group, Ltd. is currently recruiting for Risk Management Interns as part of Everest’s broader Summer 2019 Internship Program. This is an exciting opportunity to receive insurance Risk Management exposure within a dynamic company and Risk Management team. Students will have the ability to explore the intricacies of the insurance business under the guidance of the industry’s best professionals.
In addition to having strong technical aptitude, the ideal candidate will be high-energy and have a desire to continually learn and develop. These internships will be located in either of our branch offices in midtown Manhattan or Los Angeles. The program will run 10 weeks beginning June 3rd and concluding August 9th. In addition to marketable, hands-on experience, students will receive biweekly compensation.
Specific responsibilities, projects and/or activities are listed below, but may vary based on business demands and/or the individual student’s skill sets and development needs.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Assist in the pre-qualification of deals and providing summary to underwriting team to help with submission flow
• Assist in classifying all submissions received, quoted, declined etc. from our tracker for reporting and data analytics
• Shadow underwriters – Information gathering and exposure analysis
• Monitor rate change reports and similar account tracking reports
• Work on projects related to target accounting, foreign liability cross-sell and private equity segment growth
• Provide support as needed to remote Commercial Casualty and Risk Management office locations
• Deliver a presentation summarizing the internship experience
• Represent Everest Re Group with integrity and a customer service orientation
Work Experience & Qualifications
• Actively enrolled in an accredited college or university, preferably majoring in Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field
• Completed a minimum of two years (60 credits), 3 years preferred (90 credits)
• Have a minimum grade point average of 3.2
• Be proficient in office software, specifically the Microsoft suite (Outlook, Word & Excel ; Microsoft Project and Access a plus)
• Demonstrate strong analytical and organizational skills
• Be highly attentive to detail
• Utilize effective business communication skills
• Manage multiple projects, priorities, and be attentive to deadlines
