Our Crop Insurance Division provides the tools producers need in the form of specialized crop insurance coverages, which can insure their revenue stream even if elements outside their control go awry. That means even in the face of a worst-case scenario producers will have the guaranteed income they need to keep their operation functioning properly.
We are looking for a Divisional Vice President of Accounting to provide strategic leadership and direction to the Accounting department in the Crop division. This position will report to the President of the Crop division.
Responsibilities
• Develops and directs the implementation of accounting policies and operations of accounting systems, budgeting, and financial report preparation to ensure creation of meaningful information to aid in management decision-making.
• Designs and implements departmental procedures and internal controls to ensure timely and accurate billing and all other banking and accounting processes.
• Directs the activities needed to maintain general ledgers and financial reports.
• Develops and maintains management reports to allow adequate monitoring of the division’s performance at a state, profit center, and agency level.
• Reviews management reports and works closely with the field offices on budget preparation.
• Directs the compiling, consolidating and analyzing of accounting and finance information for the production of statements, schedules, filings and reports of a complex nature.
• Directs and maintains ledger accounts and the development of financial statements and reports.
• Provides strategic leadership and direction to improve the cost-effectiveness of processes and programs in the Crop division.
• Has accountability for performance, development, and coaching of the department.
Qualifications
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Master’s degree or CPA designation are preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in accounting including financial forecasting, budgeting, reporting.
• Must have strong attention to detail as well as the ability to identify and analyze accounting issues.
• Prior management experience is required, and knowledge of the Crop Insurance industry is a plus.
