Role Value Proposition:
As a member of a hi-performing collaborative tax team this tax professional is responsible for all aspects of the tax function. The tax professional will be responsible for preparing income tax provisions for life and non-life entities in accordance with US GAAP and STAT accounting principles. Analyze tax accruals for reasonableness and accuracy and ensure proper tax and accounting treatment. The tax professional will also be responsible for providing support and assistance in tax initiatives related to tax transformation improvements in the reporting process.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare interim and annual US GAAP and Statutory income tax provisions prepared in accordance with ASC 740 and SSAP 101 including analysis of the effective tax rate (ETR) and current and deferred tax liability, current and deferred tax rollforwards and tax basis proofs, ASC 740-10 (previously FIN 48) reserve analysis, and return to provision reconciliations.
• Prepare tax disclosures in US GAAP and Statutory financial statements, including Managements Discussion and Analysis, income tax footnote and ETR schedule.
• Prepare interim and annual certification of legal entity tax balance sheet accounts.
• Supports and works closely with the Tax Transformation team initiatives, processes and procedures.
• Identifies opportunities and makes recommendations to reduce taxes and minimize audit exposure.
• Maintain a working knowledge of current US federal tax laws to accomplish principal responsibilities
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Taxation.
• Minimum 2-5 years of income tax accounting and compliance experience in a tax practice or an accounting firm.
• Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks workload and comply with financial reporting deadlines.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• In order to post for this position, you need the proper work authorization to work in the country where the position is located and not require relocation assistance.
Preferred:
• CPA or MBA preferred.
• Technical experience in life insurance tax and tax accounting, (ASC 740, SSAP 101 preferred).
• Experience with Microsoft Office, and familiar with PeopleSoft general ledger system preferred
