This position is responsible for the accurate and timely research of treaty data and the updates to treaty data elements within the Treaty Manager system for any treaty in either the US or Canada in support of the running of Message Management data files or for other business purposes.
Duties include the review of any suggested or requested change for the system to assure that the change matches to the actual treaty document that has been executed and represents the contractual terms under which Swiss Re and its client have agreed to do business. Incumbent will determine how the information should be reflected in the appropriate system, and then apply that information, so that contractual compliance requirements exercised in Message Management and other internal business processes such as admin, and claims can be accurately fulfilled.
Incumbent will assure that data is accurate for both Model Office and Production environments. Incumbent will have extensive contacts with Technical Accountants, Costing Actuaries, Marketing Actuaries, Contracts Wording, and Client Markets Business Services to assure that terms are appropriate and accurately reflect the intention of the deal.
Incumbent may determine and request updates to the actual treaty document, should determination be made that the treaty document is inaccurate.
Proactively seek and understand new business needs that may be arising which require enhancements to data stored in Treaty Manager. Attend New Deal Meetings to understand upcoming amendments and new treaties and their impact on data requirements and processing, and to provide subject matter expertise. Incumbent serves as a knowledge resource for requirements definition for technical system changes to Treaty Manager, and will serve as a tester when changes to the logic within the system are completed. Testing will include the documentation of scenarios and test results.
Reviews actual exceptions being encountered during either testing runs or production runs of Message Management and assists in performing mapping activities. Ability to extract seriatim data, analyze, transform, & visualize with the goal of developing a data crosswalk to Swiss Re values with validations done within the paper treaty. Responsible to learn and develop a good understanding of the data needs of our business and our customers business. Be innovative with mapping of the data and utilize tools to improve productivity and process automation by exploring how new Data Analytics can be developed to improve processes. Ability to learn & develop skills needed to understand client seriatim data layouts, discover hidden trends & patterns that can improve quality of mapping. Have a basic knowledge of Swiss Re's key insurance business activities, products & services.
• Analyze requests from Technical Accountants, DM Business Analysts, and other stakeholders that involve one or more sections of the treaty data used in the Message Management validation and contractual compliance processes. Thoroughly review these situations by researching existing treaties to assure that the correct treaty terms are used and applied. Implement data changes in both Model Office and Production environments only after assuring the appropriateness and accuracy of the change. Priority setting of requests will be critical to achieving business goals. Attend new deal meetings.
• Works with IT to define business system changes to the treaty applications, and serves as the DM representative tester when IT has made the changes to the system logic. Assures that all testing scenarios are thoroughly defined and developed, documents the scenarios and documents the results of the scenario execution.
• Perform mapping analyst activities such as data reviews, setting translations, mappings to treaty / pricing segments. By reviewing actual exceptions being encountered during either testing runs or production runs of Message Management and performing mapping activities, help drive improvement of Treaty Quality before requests are submitted .
About You
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a contracts or data management environment
• Proven analytical skills
• Possess a strong knowledge of computer fundamentals. Takes full advantage of computer programs and office tools to maximize productivity (e.g. PowerPoint, Word, Access, Excel, BOXI).
• Agile thinker with the ability to analyze a problem and develop creative solutions to resolve an issue using newer tools
• Able to think strategically (understands the units role in the organization and how to leverage the unit's competencies)
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert and ability to mentor other team members
• Proven organizational and time management skills through the use of tools like DataAssist (JIRA), and SharePoint; ability to prioritize handle multiple priorities
• Proven interpersonal skills for work internally within and across departments
• Proven decision making skills
• Detail oriented
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Ideally minimum 5 years related experience, in a reinsurance/ insurance environment
• Knowledge of reinsurance contracts, as well as reinsurance products and features
• ARA Designation with progression to acquiring a FLMI designation or equivalent work experience
