Position Overview

The country’s largest Multifamily lender, with over a $70 billion platform, is looking to add a Targeted Affordable Housing Production Senior Associate to their McLean, VA team. The Senior Associate will be based in Freddie Mac Multifamily’s McLean, VA office, reporting to the TAH Production Director. Based out of Mclean, VA, the Freddie Mac Multifamily TAH team’s annual production volume exceeds $5B across all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The hired candidate will work closely with one or two TAH Relationship Managers, who each manage two or three key national relationships that originate permanent (long-term) financing and/or recapitalization for multifamily properties across the country. The Senior Associate will help their assigned relationship manager to screen, structure, and manage their origination pipeline. Your work falls into three primary categories:
Analysis
• Under the supervision of the Relationship Manager, screen, structure, quote, and originate multifamily mortgages from a robust annual inflow pipeline. The Senior Associate is responsible for screening loan opportunities from the TAH Seller Servicer network and structuring quotes. Quote process may include coordination with our capital markets, underwriting, legal, and asset management teams. Quote process includes identifying risks and providing mitigants.
• Preliminary sizing of deals per Freddie Mac’s credit policies, acting as the deal contact, performing property inspections, quoting and deal structuring process, and working cooperatively with the underwriting group to negotiate the terms of the transaction and to otherwise ensure clear communication and a seamless execution.
• Applying job knowledge, company policies and principles and critical thinking to complete assigned tasks accurately, completely, independently and in a timely manner.
Managing Relationships
• Under the supervision of their assigned Relationship Manager, manage and monitor pipeline of deals in all stages of the process from quote submission to under application to final approval and rate lock. Pipeline management will require extensive updates and communication with external and internal customers.
• Develop and manage Seller/Servicer relationships by scheduling regular meetings and touchpoints with assigned relationships. Frequent interaction with the customer to keep them apprised of new products, processes, and platform developments. With assigned Relationship Manager, make joint marketing calls to meet with active borrowers and attend industry events.
• May also be part of working groups that develop new products & processes.
Communication
• Collaborate with external customers and internal business partners, including Underwriting, Legal and Capital Markets, to resolve issues arise as they arise through the underwriting, commitment, and closing process.
• Work closely with the Seller/Servicer network to maximize efficiency and transparency throughout the quote process
• High level of oral and written communication with our Seller network to negotiate and deliver deal structuring decisions and pricing.
Qualifications
• Typically has a minimum of three years of Multifamily and/or Commercial real estate finance experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Real Estate, or related discipline and/or equivalent experience
• Familiarity in the preparation of projections, budgets and proforma statements, preferably in Multifamily
• Demonstrated experience in originating and structuring Multifamily/CRE mortgage loans
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Position requires up to 10% to 15% travel
• GSE lending experience and familiarity with Multifamily loan products preferred
