POSITION TITLE
Tax Analyst, Tax Compliance & Reporting
LOCATION
Richmond, VA
YOUR ROLE
Genworth is looking for a Tax Analyst to join our growing tax team! You will assist with the preparation of the state compliance and will assist with tax accounting for quarterly and annual reporting requirements. You will work with a cross-functional team of tax professionals, as well as business partners, to ensure the highest level of quality in our tax compliance and reporting processes.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist with the preparation of the state tax returns for members of the consolidated group, as well as separate company filings
• Prepare and review quarterly and annual GAAP and STAT tax provisions for certain legal entities
• Assist the lead process owner for certain technical areas included in the company’s business property, municipal, premium and sales and use processes
• Assist with the preparation and management of state audits
• Assist in the gathering and preparation of documentation related to the company's business property, municipal, premium and sales and use processes
• Reconcile data between systems to ensure integrity and accuracy
• Assist in special projects, as needed
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
Required
• BS in Accounting, finance, or related field
• At least 1-5 years of experience in tax accounting, compliance and reporting
• Working knowledge of federal and multi-state tax compliance process
• Basic understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and ASC 740
• Proven ability to communicate across all levels within the organization (both verbal and written)
• Ability to effectively work independently as well as in a team- oriented environment
• Ability to adapt to changes in business needs and respond quickly
• Proven track record in improving efficiency and effectiveness in processes and tasks
• Strong analytical skills, detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and complete projects in a timely manner
Preferred
• CPA, MBA or Masters in Tax with accounting experience (or equivalent)
• Experience with process improvement, change management and optimization of various tax processes
• Exhibit flexibility, creativity and initiative in providing solutions
