Zurich is currently looking for a Sr. Workers’ Compensation Claims Specialist to work out of our Rancho Cordova, CA office. They will handle California Workers’ Compensation Claims of high exposure and complexity to prompt and equitable conclusions. The selected candidate will investigate, determine applicable coverage and liability and document claim files in order to justify payment of final decision. They will also set appropriate reserves within their authority level and stay up to date and comply with special handling requirements. They will be responsible to develop and maintain positive customer relationships; anticipate customer needs and monitor trends in order to recommend changes.
Basic Qualifications:
• Juris Doctor and 5 or more years of experience in the Claims or Litigation area to include at least 4 years of Workers Compensation Claims experience.
OR
• Bachelors Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Litigation area to include at least 4 years of Workers Compensation Claims experience.
OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Litigation area to include at least 4 years of Workers Compensation Claims experience.
OR
• Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims Handling area within the Insurance industry to include at least 4 years of Workers Compensation Claims experience.
AND
• Must obtain and maintain required adjuster license(s)
• Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims and the insurance legal and regulatory environment
• Negotiation experience
• Customer service experience
• Microsoft Office experience
Preferred Qualifications:
• 5 or more years of California Workers Compensation claims handling experience
• Insurance designations such as SCLA, CPCU, AIC
• Analytical skills
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work independently
• Experience collaborating across work groups
• ADR (Alternate Dispute Resolution) Experience
• Arizona claims handling Experience
