Job Description
Everest Insurance Company, a member of the Everest Re Group, Ltd. is currently recruiting for Actuarial Interns as part of Everest’s broader Summer 2019 Internship Program. This is an exciting opportunity to receive Property/Casualty Pricing Actuarial exposure within a dynamic company and actuarial team. Students will have the ability to explore the intricacies of the insurance business under the guidance of the industry’s best professionals.
In addition to having strong technical aptitude, the ideal candidate will be high-energy and have a desire to continually learn and develop. These internships will located either at our corporate headquarters in Liberty Corner, NJ (exit 33 off I-78) or in our branch office in midtown Manhattan. The program will run 10 weeks beginning June 3rd and concluding August 9th. In addition to marketable, hands-on experience, students will receive biweekly compensation.
Specific responsibilities, projects and/or activities are listed below, but may vary based on business demands and/or the individual student’s skill sets and development needs.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Support with our price monitoring processes and reports
• Support on filings and new Product Development
• Support in the testing and development of our rating models
• Predictive analytics support, including data manipulation and model development
Work Experience and Qualifications:
• Actively enrolled in an accredited college or university, preferably majoring in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Finance, or related field
• Completed a minimum of two years (60 credits), 3 years preferred (90 credits)
• Graduating seniors and graduate students are also eligible
• Have a minimum grade point average of 3.2
• While not required, having at least 1 passed actuary exam is a plus
• Strong critical thinking, pattern recognition/detection, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Microsoft Excel
• While not required, a strong proficiency in at least one of the following is a plus: SQL, VBA, or R
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as a team player
