As a member of the North America Credit Risk Team, the Credit Risk Manager: Loss Provisioning will lead all aspects of loss provision methodologies, analysis, calculation and reporting in close connection with the collections function, credit risk, finance and the accounting departments. This includes business forecasting, calculation and analysis of actual results, projection of trends while working across the retail network and the corporate functions. This position is the primary lead for the collections leader to drive clear linkage between the recovery of payments, a critical partner with the credit risk team to deliver analysis of underwriting trends. Analyzes financial portfolio data for strategic decision making by the field operations and collections groups, company executives and other departments; develops mathematical and financial models to evaluate strategic initiatives and performance.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversee of evaluation and monthly calculation of loan losses for all NA loan products.
• Develop analytics and detailed financial models to support the loan loss provisions and reserves.
• Evaluate coverage levels and motivate for completeness in requirements to prevent losses to group through incorrect provisioning methodology.
• Provide value added statistical analysis of credit & debt performance to identify opportunities and improvements in product structure, collections activities, credit terms and in store and/or collections operations.
• Develop detailed integrated daily/weekly/monthly forecasts on various credit and debt related metrics.
• Identify, develop, standardize and monitor key business indicators related to credit and debt.
• Design and generate standardized management & operational reports to all levels of the organization, including NA Credit Committee and Global ALLL Committee.
• Collaborating with Credit team, Information Services, FP&A and other departments.
• Collaborating with external auditors on provisioning methodology.
• Other ad-hoc projects in support of executives and operations management as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
• Professional accounting designation or strong statistical qualifications preferred
EXPERIENCE
• 10+ years of work experience in credit & debt analysis, forecasting, reporting, process & tools improvement, as well as providing business insights for leadership team.
SKILLS
• Strong analytical skills, able to provide simplicity to complex financial concepts.
• Team player with proven abilities to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast paced changing environment.
• Experience in the financial services sector, along with financial reporting in a public company.
• Intuitive, self starter with strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills at all levels including senior executives, management and staff.
• Understanding of various forecasting techniques and exposure to statistical software e.g SPSS, R, and SAS,Advanced MS Office skills/Excel an asset
• Knowledge of SQL an asset.
