Marcum LLP is seeking an Audit Senior to join our Alternative Investment team in NYC. This position requires a high energy, experienced professional with strong interpersonal and supervisory skills.

Responsibilities
• Identify and communicate issues that affect the accuracy of the accounting records.
• Demonstrate advance knowledge of accounting principles and auditing standards and techniques necessary to effectively supervise staff.
• Thorough understanding of basic accounting and reporting requirements and the ability to prepare complex footnote disclosures.
• Supervise staff and solve complex engagement problems.
• Develop appropriate and complete engagement audit programs in accordance with GAAP.
• Draft all client financial reports including complex footnote disclosures.
• Prepare and complete meaningful management letters.
• Review engagements and prepare substantive review comments.
• Develop reasonable time budgets and effectively monitor performance.
• Develop positive relations with key management of client.
• Respond in a timely fashion to client questions and requests.
• Capable of drafting footnote disclosures with minimum number of revisions.
• Communicate engagement needs to the client.
• Involved in the review process, resolves questions QC with the partner to resolve their review points.
• Recognize extended service opportunities.
• Cultivate effective relationships with client and staff.
• Keep current on professional pronouncements.
• Proactively participates in professional development opportunities, i.e. Mentoring program.
• Participate in level training for junior staff.
Qualifications
• BBA/BS/MS in Accounting.
• Licensed CPA is preferred.
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)/Tax law knowledge.
• 5-8 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated technical abilities in select areas.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Active listening skills.
• Strong time management, analytical and research skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines accurately.
