Information and Insights is a global operational team with locations in Los Angeles, Irvine, London, Tokyo and Singapore. Our larger team is responsible for delivering accurate and timely results data and analysis to the investment group, marketing, governance, clients, shareholders, and other teams.
There are several opportunities within this team in our Los Angeles and/or Irvine locations:
1. Results & Attribution- This role will be responsible for providing portfolio performance and attribution for Portfolio Managers and Research Analysts, including return validation and reporting. In addition, the role will support the implementation of a new results and attribution system (BISAM B-ONE), partnering with the implementation team to design and evolve data transformation, automated processes and our business operating model.
2. Capital System Measurement & Analytics – This role will be responsible for providing portfolio performance, attribution and descriptive analytics for Portfolio Managers and Research Analysts. This will include validation, maintenance, reporting and analysis of the Capital System investment portfolios.
3. Distribution Results & Attribution – This role will be responsible for providing portfolio performance, attribution, and ad-hoc analysis for our Distribution stakeholders (includes Sales, Marketing, and Investment Services). This will include Attribution through FactSet and providing data and analysis for new business opportunities in the Equity and Multi-Asset (Balanced Funds, Fund of Funds) space.
Responsibilities:
• Performance measurement – calculate, validate, maintain, and interpret portfolio total & asset level results and statistics
• Performance evaluation – portfolio attribution, style analysis, trend analysis, benchmark analysis, transaction and holdings analysis (e.g. transaction and process impact analysis)
• Portfolio analytics – select, define, validate & report portfolio results, holdings and transaction characteristics
• Custom Index construction – maintain custom indices for portfolios including custom calculations & data management
• System expertise – subject matter expertise for one or more internal or external industry applications, understanding methodologies for various investment types, and partner with other departments or external vendors on system design and implementation
• Results process analysis – troubleshoot issues, understand system flows & dependencies as well as purpose, mechanics and impact of transactions on results, and support on-going design for data mapping & transformation
• Process optimization – continuously develop & evolve best practices, increase efficiency, and enhance capabilities including identification of system enhancements
• Risk mitigation - design and develop business processes, risk control measures, and metric evaluations to meet evolving business needs and adherence with compliance regulations
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, mathematics, economics, statistics, computer science, MIS, or other quantitative field, preferred
• Domain knowledge in performance measurement and attribution, preferred
• A related charter (CIPM or CFA) or professional experience in an analytical/quantitative business role, preferred
• Excellent MS Excel skills (e.g., functions, charting, and pivot tables) is required for some of the roles; SQL knowledge is preferred
• Excellent problem solving & analytical skills, ability to manage complexity, and intellectual curiosity for both data and processes
• Strong innovation mindset and keen focus on process optimization
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Familiarity with portfolio accounting transactions and their impact to performance measurement is preferred for some of the roles
• Experience with performance measurement systems, particularly BI-SAM B-ONE is a plus for some of the roles
*Location flexibility between Los Angeles and Irvine will depend on the functional team you are interested in.
