Position Overview

Freddie Mac has an Enterprise Risk Management Director position to work with the business to identify innovative risk management tools, using data and analytics, to streamline the origination process; while maintaining sound risk management practices.
Your Knowledge and Experience will be leveraged and expanded to:
• Understand new business strategies, identify and evaluate key risks and controls related to single-family mortgage credit risk, customer credit management, contract terms of business and credit policy management
• Participate in key new business initiatives, proving risk management guidance to help lead to a successful offering
• Provide insight to our affordable mission related initiatives while managing to a prudent risk level
• Oversee review of new credit policies and processes and determine impact on sound risk management practices
• Lead the assessment of new innovative tools being developed to streamline the mortgage origination process for collateral, income and assets
• Lead the analytic work to test and challenge new tools and techniques to help assess their effectiveness
• Identify and recommend best practices for using analytics to improve risk management performance forecasting and monitoring
Risk Management Framework
• Lead the development of the corporate credit policy framework that guides our risk management principles and practices
• Identify, document and communicate key concerns to senior management for emerging credit risks, monitor remediation action plans
• Work with our regulator and other parties to understand our risk management practices and results of ongoing reviews and assessments
Ongoing Risk Management Oversight
• Monitor and analyze overall risk exposure of new purchases compared to the risk appetite measurements and provide recommendation for mitigating strategies
• Review and recommend approval/denial on significant credit policy changes
Leadership
• Provide leadership to a team of credit risk managers
• Work within a team of directors setting the path for Enterprise Risk Management for single family credit
• Provide ongoing personal development opportunities for your team
• Lead a culture of change and innovation in risk management
Qualifications
• Typically has 12+ years related experience. 4+ years management experience
• College degree or equivalent experience; advanced studies/degree preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of mortgage credit risk management - Fintech
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and impacts on credit risk
• Experience with the primary mortgage market or secondary mortgage market in risk management or production/operations

• Keeping a network of risk professionals inside and outside the organization to identify and test best practices
