The Group:
Morningstar’s Business Development & Sales group is responsible for helping our advisor and institutional clients build their businesses and provide better outcomes for investors. The group is structured primarily along the following client segments: Advisor, Asset Management, Retirement, Strategic Alliances and Redistributor, and Commodities & Energy.
The Role:
As a Sales Operations Assistant, you will assist with increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of Morningstar’s award-winning Renewal Team. The Renewal Team is responsible for helping our Global Sales Teams grow their book of business through technology innovation and operational efficiency. You will be responsible for obtaining a deep understanding of how our sales representatives currently go about their role, identify areas for improvement, and recommend and implement solutions to allow our sales team to optimize results. You will gain a deep understanding of the systems and processes that brings Revenue to Morningstar. You will assist in contract creation, reporting, general sales support & process improvement. This position is based in our Chicago office.

Overview:
Your Main Responsibilities are made up of three different roles. You must be able to wear manymultiple hats, pivot quickly, multitask, and stay organized. Beyond your three Main Responsibilities you will find there is room for growth in Optional Side Quests.
Main Responsibilities 1(8025% of time spent in service to Sales):
Lead the processing of Advisor Workstation Opportunities on the Salesforce Platform
You are the bridge between the Renewal Team and Sales. You are part of an established process that executes a renewal based on defined parameters. You will be trained extensively on how to address the varying situations that will arise. You will gain expert-level knowledge and experience navigating the internal processes of Salesforce and Globe. You will connect with subject matter experts across the Renewal Team and Sales.
• Troubleshoot errors and issues with Sales Reps via chatter, email, and in some cases, by phone.
◦ You are willing to ask for help when you don’t know the answer. You want to comply with the rules and you want to help others meet rules for compliance. You will gain experience making independent decisions in a rules-based environment. You feel accomplished when collaborating with others to solve problems.
• Respond to varying queue volumes and address your queue promptly and resourcefully.
◦ When in the home stretch at end of quarter, you understand that it is go-time.
You thrive in this “high-stakes” environment. You must be extremely responsive as your work is directly related to the Sales Rep’s paycheck, and Morningstar’s quarterly performance. You must be willing to accept responsibility and understand your role as part of a larger business system.
Main Responsibilities 2(10% of time spent in service to the Renewal Team):
Participate in Process Improvement projects on a Global Scale
• Opportunity to gain experience:
◦ Documenting changes in a process for team distribution
◦ Distributing information about new process to global team members
◦ Training global team members on new processes via Skype and WebEx
◦ Providing regular progress updates to global team members
◦ Monitoring adoption of new processes through feedback and reporting

• Develop Reporting and Operations Analysis Skills

# Business Analysts, Business Development, Salesforce IT, Finance, Product Managers, Sales Managers, Service Managers, Legal and others to gain insight into other team functions and roles at Morningstar
