Job Duties:
• Develop independent validation tools for actuarial models used in pricing and valuation throughout John Hancock;
• Validate business unit actuarial models according to the standards defined in the Model Risk Management Group’s Policy and Guidelines;
• Recommend best practices related to model development and maintenance as well as change management controls;
• Provide feedback on business unit model documentation and validation reports upon request; and
• Manage central validation team resources; encourage staff to develop technical skills that will significantly improve the quality and efficiency of actuarial models and processes.
May telecommute from any metropolitan Boston-area home office within 50 mile radius, but must commute to Boston office 1-2 times per month or more frequent as needed.
Minimum Degree Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or related field.
Minimum Experience Requirements:
Requires 7 years of experience with pricing and/or valuation process in the insurance or financial services industries, including work experience in the following:
• 7 years of experience with GGY AXIS
• 7 years of experience working within insurance and annuities.
• 5 years of experience with valuation models
• 5 years of experience with multiple accounting bases including IFRS, NAIC (U.S. Stat) and U.S. GAAP.
• 2 years of experience with VBA for Microsoft Excel and/or Microsoft Access.
