Job Description
As a key member of the John Hancock Investments Finance team, you will be responsible for many financial analysis activities supporting the business unit and WAM Finance. This includes providing monthly and quarterly close review working closely with Expense and Finance Shared Services teams. Providing monthly, quarterly, and annual driver-based analysis of business performance with meaningful comparisons against operational and industry targets and strategic objectives. Drafting managerial reporting narratives to focus on the why and be able to relate trends to the industry. Building and completing complex financial models. Defining and re-evaluating operating metrics as needed to meet the evolving needs of the Business Unit.
Individual Accountabilities:
• Improve financial status by analyzing results, monitoring trends and variances, and recommending actions to management (20%)
• Developing complex financial models, analyzing and interpreting data, and making comparative analysis (25%)
• Providing competitive analysis and comparative financials vs. industry, i.e. acquisition expenses, productivity, margins, etc. (20%)
• Maintain technical knowledge by attending related workshops; reviewing publications; collaborate with outside departments (10%)
• Ad hoc analysis as requested (10%)
Key Shared Accountabilities:
• Collecting and analyzing data to help with explaining WAM financials for US and Europe (10%)
• Provide additional, valuable analytics and help streamline existing monthly operational review presentation (5%)
Job Requirement:
• Bachelor’s degree in finance
• CPA and/or advanced degree highly preferred
• 6 to 8 years of related experience including deep understanding of financial reporting, project management skills and a proven ability to work across functions within an organization
• Strong computer skills and an expert proficiency using MS Excel and PowerPoint a requirement
• Strong presentation and written interpersonal skills
• Be willing to undergo a background check and have fingerprints maintain on file in compliance with regulatory standards

• Able to effectively articulate issues and trends to management

• Demonstrates ability to coordinate complex process and projects
• Possess ability to build complex financial models
• Possesses strong ability to draft financial reporting narratives
