Summary
You will enable your business and IT partners within John Hancock to recognize and manage their information risk in a challenging and dynamic business environment. You’ll participate in key projects and initiatives ensuring information risk is always considered and managed. Your specific contribution as the Senior Consultant, Information Security Management will see you act as an authority who assists business partners and IT colleagues to identify, quantify then manage their information security risks. You’ll empower those partners and colleagues to protect the information assets and intellectual property they create and are entrusted with. You’ll research and help securely implement new technologies and tools ensuring the protection of the underlying information assets.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
• Lead business unit security program activities such as conducting/facilitating application security assessments, and providing application security consulting services to IT and other relevant partners and clients.
• Lead project risk assessments from a technical security and information risk management perspective (includes risk identification based on information criticality through to control implementation and management of risk acceptance by business areas.
• Support operational security activities including oversight of ongoing divisional security processes (e.g., incident response, ad hoc queries, periodic access reviews, vulnerability management)
• Support the development and enforcement of Global information security policies and standards; work with business units and technical teams to implement security policies and processes throughout the division
• Assist and actively participate in your team’s plans to achieve their goals (this includes those that originate from IRM and the business). Participate in frameworks used to measure & report on progress made towards the achievement of those goals.
• Be part of an active team who remains current on emerging risks and technologies, key developments and strategies for the businesses you support. Keep abreast of new thoughts, tools and approaches within your IRM discipline. Stay informed on emerging technologies, key business drivers, evolving threats and opportunities from both the business and IRM.
• Collaborate with other IRM professionals within your team including the Director, Information Security Management, the Divisional Information Risk Officer and other IRM professionals across Manulife globally.
• Contribute and participate in divisional and global IRM projects and initiatives as requested. Ensure division-specific requirements and needs are accommodated whenever possible and practical in initiatives, projects and services
Top 3 things we're looking for in you:
• Information security experience - Professional certification (or current enrollment in program) for information security – CISSP, CISA, CRISC or similar credentials
• Someone with very strong facilitation experience and communication experience - dealing with many SME's from privacy, to legal, to senior executives
• Someone that can drive the incident through the process - bring a group together, assign tasks, facilitation of discussion, vendor management, etc.
Qualifications
• 7+ years of progressive experience in information security/information risk management
• General operating knowledge of security for applications and infrastructure, security threat/risk/data classification
• Professional certification (or current enrollment in program) for information security – CISSP, CISA, CRISC or similar credentials
• Proven ability to build relationships, engage and influence others, work with diverse internal and international user communities as well as vendors
• Achievement oriented with proven management skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities with tight deadlines
