Job Description
The Director of Strategy & Implementation supports the development, implementation and evaluation of the business’s long-term strategic plans. This role is primarily focused on the intermediary channel within the U.S. They will work very closely with the market research team, Director of Strategy & Implementation for the Institutional/Europe channel and other strategy leads across different divisions.
• Supports the development of the business’s strategic plans across all departments, facilitates cross-functional collaboration and supports project initiatives
• Develops and tracks the business’s goals, this includes establishing measurement criteria to monitor execution/performance, identifying deficiencies, and providing actionable solutions
• This position is a highly collaborative role where you are expected to coordinate closely with all business functions and stakeholders, including global product, finance, distribution, operations and marketing to ensure that we are aligned to advance the overall business strategy
• Implementation of strategic initiatives – works on, and sometimes leads, various business projects
• Collaborates with finance on evaluation of business metrics, product pricing and P&L responsibilities
• Assist with Board(s) as necessary to implement strategy
• Provide analytical support for investment platform initiatives including projects associated with closed end funds, share class offerings, fee analysis/negotiations, new product structures (e.g. UCITS, collective trusts and ETFs), and responses to Board requests.
• Work closely with market research to understand the competitive landscape and market trends to tie back to our strategy
• Conduct analysis for merger and acquisition opportunities
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously including data collection, project management, and presentation development. Scope and frequency of projects will vary.
• Other duties as assigned
• Ability to work well within a team and to collaborate will be a required attribute – how well this individual works with other teams will be a major contributing factor to their effectiveness – this includes having a positive can-do attitude and being proactive
• Candidate must demonstrate vast experience in the financial service sector as well as experience working on strategic initiatives – experience in intermediary channel is a plus with a strong understanding of 40-Act mutual funds and other retail investment products
• Big picture thinker – ability to think strategically and creatively to help grow the business over the long-term and through changing market environments
• Exceptional Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills are necessary to create visual and verbal analysis, reports and presentations. Experience with other strategy or visual tools is a plus.
• Candidate will likely have 5-10 years’ experience in the financial services industry
• Experience coordinating projects across different divisions/teams within an organization
• Strong project management and organizational skills, including building presentations
• Experience with industry software such as Morningstar Direct and SIMFUND
• Ability to prioritize work and juggle multiple projects while meeting deadlines
• Attention to detail is critical as decisions are often being made off of our work and proposals
